Exasperating read, not what I'd hoped for.
Minor spoiler grumpingI do not get on with characters who are dicks for unexplained/thinly justified reasons. Here we have 4 main POVs, two of whom are jerks, plus a 5th smaller POV, king of the jerks. The villain motivation and action makes little sense. People flying into a rage every two minutes and shooting magic everywhere needed a far better explanation. And don't get me started on Edna's disappearing diabetes.
I am totally here for older MC Chosen Ones, but this didn't work for me at all. Plus the dragons are of such minor importance they could easily be written out with only minor rewrites needed.

Soft DNF: there's nothing wrong with this lovingly written small town Italian romp except that I'm not in the mood for it.
