Soft DNF: there's nothing wrong with this lovingly written small town Italian romp except that I'm not in the mood for it.
Soft DNF - may come back to this because people whose taste usually matches mine loved it.
However what I've read so far hasn't grabbed me; the setting is good but I don't care for any of the characters.

I just don't like the FMC, this reads like YA but without the depth that I need in that genre.
There is a MMC POV but he never actually feels that important (at least as far as I've read) and I'm just done with slogging through.

Beautifully written, but minimal plot / feelings for characters. I don't care to go on.
Just too slow and fluffy for me ... does someone really go from being an Evil Shit to Hapless But Lovable just from losing their memory?
I loved the first in this series, liked the second, but I am so uncomfortable with Emily's bullying here. If the 'rivalry' was just between the two of them, maybe I'd be okay with it-- but roping the whole town in to make someone's life so miserable they leave is not a cute plot.
In an alternate reality where they don't get together, Jack ends up with a poorly maintained, perhaps dangerous house, difficulties buying the most basic supplies, and no friends/support despite being a kind and decent guy -- and an excellent teacher. Yes, I'm taking a romcom too seriously but I don't think there'll be an acknowledgement of nasty this behaviour is.

Thin world-building, limited character development. Individual scenes were well-written, but they didn't add up the way they needed to to keep me reading.
Soft DNF.
Just not vibing with the main character ... it feels a bit like "being a poet as well as a kickass spy" is her entire personality.

Nothing's terribly wrong, but also nothing's pulling me into the story.
Highly detailed scene setting, has great potential but -- just my opinion -- I don't find this well-written. There are repeated words, phrases and concepts that a close edit should have tidied away, and it's constant, not once or twice.
Plus, at a third of the way through, all the action has been in the first two chapters, and now we're just wandering around after some fairly bland characters while clunky exposition takes place.
I was hoping once the main plot kicked in, that the writing would smooth out and the author start to have fun, but I don't have the patience to see if that will yet happen.
