It's still fun when you're in a sarcastic mood. He has lots of books, so it's not a best of though.

I did not expect anything so consistently high-quality, fun, and varied. It's all from authors I had never heard of too! My reading list probably just ballooned. Thanks a lot.
Fun inclusive medieval comic
I enjoyed the song parodies and the point of view. I felt that some of the exposition was too on the nose.

Mom, Jeff Vandermeer's experimenting with form again!
With him I feel like I should be taking notes for lit class.

I love how the expansion of the universe actually feels expansive and not like they've added planets by swapping out the color shirt. With a decreased focus on the identity themes from the first trilogy it's ever so slightly less my personal catnip, but it's still a fantastic book and it will sit happily on my shelf awaiting a reread.
I was excited for the topic and the idea being presented, but I don't think it lands. There is a focus problem. The book spends too much time on topics that are neither woven into an interesting portrait of Sewall the person nor well explained as connected to his apology. The exegesis of the apology therefore comes across as a stretch.
