holy shit i adored this book!!! so so good, need to go read the author's other works pronto
mysterious fast-paced

a fun if slightly frustrating read. the book had some good bones and promising material, but felt a bit like a first draft. pacing was sometimes a bit weird, maeve could have been more fleshed out, and the writing was all very unsubtle. lot of telling when it could have showed just fine. it just felt like the author sometimes didn't trust readers to be able to connect the dots themselves, so things were sometimes overly spelled out rather than letting the audience come to their own conclusions.

still an enjoyable, quick read though, and i've already acquired the sequel :3

DID NOT FINISH: 40%

this book was ass. so cliche, so flat, the characters were just boring and lacked any dimension, and the author's writing style just pissed me off. way too many one sentence paragraphs back to back, and the sentences were often just split up weirdly. the mystery wasn't shaping up to be anything interesting tbh, and i just did not care at all what happened.

would not recommend whatsoever!
