The characters were believable and highly likable. Kit, who is the female main character, well, she was definitely a strong woman. She knew what she wanted and didn't really let anything stand in her way. She knew that she was much like the men in her family and she wasn't one to let the expectations of society keep her from living her life, though her love for her grandfather did ensure that she didn't do anything outrageous without taking some precautions. She was a perfect fit for the male main character, Jack, who was just as strong as she was, and he wasn't threatened by her personality. He did try to ensure that there wouldn't be too much outrage, should things happen unexpectedly and people discover that Kit wasn't one to meekly toe the line that society expected her to.

The story has several different plots going on, and though it appears that it is just the romance happening in the book, which is the main focus, you will find that it is also a story about two people learning to trust each other, learning that it doesn't always pay to keep secrets from one another, and that people don't have to be afraid of being who they are, just to please the views of society or to fall in line with the expectations of others.

Overall, it was a highly enjoyable book and I would definitely say that it was worth the read, but I also have to strongly advise anyone who picks it up--this is an adult book...and it should be picked up with that knowledge in mind. It was a fast paced book, one that sucked you in and each chapter, each scene, flowed into the next with ease.

Disclaimer...I have been waiting for this book ever since From Kiss to Queen came out.

I have to say that this book was...I have no words to describe it. I didn't know what to say about the book when I finished it on the sixth--the day after it came out (one all night reading session right there and I didn't even mind). And now that it is the 27th, you would think that I would have found my words by now, nope.

The book was very memorable, I have to say that the book has stayed with me for the past 20 days and so has the characters. It also sort of made me sad to finish it so quickly, but once it was in my hands, I could not put it down. Completely unputdownable. It was, as a bit expected, not how I had expected it to flow, but also, the person who finished putting this book together, who finished what Janet Chapman started when she sadly died before it was completed, knew how she wrote, knew her books, and knew her characters. These characters did not just make cameo appearances in previous books, but also played a key part in many ways. That being the case, it was amazing how it was executed and completed.

Enough about that. I should mention that this book does have something of a trigger warning: Kat is working to recover from...yeah, bad things, very bad. So go into this book with caution, but don't let that knowledge keep you from enjoying the book, if you enjoy this series!

This book centers around the fifth brother in the Ferraro family and the young lady that they had rescued as a teenager in an earlier book in the series.

This book quickly grabbed my attention and kept it. It concluded and overarching subplot that had started in the first book of the series and made at least a cameo appearance in each of the books between the first book and this book. I have read many books by this author, most of them, at this point, and she is an author that I keep on coming back to because she makes the characters seem so alive. There has only been a couple of times that it has seemed as if her characters were only two dimensional, but not in this case.

This book likely comes with trigger warnings, there is a certain amount of violence in the book, but then, you are reading about a family that is basically mafia.

The male MC is fascinating, is different from his brothers, but at the same time, there are characteristics that are the same. The female MC does grow--they both do--but in many ways you can see that she has gained a determination to go after what she wants, no matter what anyone says.

I really liked this book. I tried to savor this book, but I simply could not put it down! It also left me in suspense for the next book in the series and I am truly hoping that it isn't long before it comes out. This author duo is a very dynamic pair and I have to say that I am always excited and eager to pick up the next book that the two put out. They never seem to disappoint, and this book didn't, either.
Once I picked the book up, I could not put it down--unless some adulting had to be done, but believe me when I say that I got through it as quickly as possible and went back to the book. There have been few that I have felt this way about. I've just read it and I still want to go back and read both books back to back. Both books need to be read one after another and I'm tempted to stop writing this review and do just that!

This is, I admit, a reread for me. This was the first book that I read by this author and I was very eager to go back, once I realized that it was a part of a series, and read the previous ones in the series. This was so loosely connected to the previous books that it was almost like a standalone, which was good the first time I read it, and even to a point, this time. There were some mentions to previous books, but it was easy enough to follow along to those references.

This book is about a couple that is learning to overcome their differences, their misunderstandings, and learning to trust each other, and grow, not only closer to each other, but closer to their families.

This is a slower paced book, but it flows evenly and well. A lot happens, but the plot is very much character driven and it needs to be understood that while it seems to be mostly romance, there is some intrigue involved, and learning more about family members and their past.
