Ableism, offensive portrayal of autism, dangerous misinformation.
The prologue was intriguing. Then the first chapter was cheesy, clunky, and displayed a privileged cranky MC that just turned me off.
Maybe this will feel different than the author’s last novel to some readers. For me it quickly felt repetitive, formulaic, and since this sub genre isn’t my favorite it was an easy DNF.
The writing and perspectives were unique and interesting, but I felt really triggered by the content.
Graphic: Rape, Sexual violence, Violence
Realized this was by a white cis author with some troubling perspectives
Might try again with a physical copy, too many names to follow well on audio.
Fat phobia, weird references to folks outside of gender norms
Evil child trope, which I love, but this came too hard straight out of the gate and stayed that way- felt cheesy and annoying.
Just bored and having trouble following the characters on audio despite great narration.
