First chapter was fine but I think it is not the book for me. Reviews echo that and warn of animal cruelty. 

DNF quick and early for blatant fat phobia. Reviews confirm this is not worth reading. 

Started just fine. Not amazing but fine. Student teacher trope is not my bag so it’s a DNF for me. 

In the Weeds was a romance with potential that fell flat for me. I never felt connected to the main characters and often felt annoyed by references to the FMC’s “brown skin” without any other reference to her identity. It felt like a half hearted attempt at diversity without an actual commitment to building a diverse and in depth character. 

I did like the farm setting, but I feel it was better done in another romance I read recently. I really wanted to like this book, but romance is all about relatable characters and In the Weeds did not deliver.

I just couldn’t stay focused on this book with so much detailed explanation of minutia and such little information about the event that is supposed to be building suspense for the reader. If it’s supposed to keep me interested, maybe I should know enough to be interested?
