I loved the idea of the book which is why I had my partner and I both start reading it but it didn’t end up being quite what I expected. There were some good nuggets of wisdom in here for us to reflect on but it did feel belittling and shaming at times. If you’re trying to read this with a partner who might be struggling with or not open to the concept of fair play, this may push them further away from the conversation.
The latter half of the book with details about the card game could be a helpful companion guide for the activity. This could be an ok option to read if you want some basic tools to approach this conversation with your partner or if they’re open to the discussion.

This book is my least favorite of the series but I recognize it as a bridge to connect the series as a hold. Not my favorite read but the graphic audio version made it a little more enjoyable!

A beautiful forward from Zadie Smith which if I could go back, I would read after reading the short story. This was a thought-provoking story on the complexities of female relationships and hardships/oppression that can be experienced, even without clarity of racial and other identities.

Rupi takes you on a journey of love, heartbreak, and a celebration of femininity. Beautiful writing that left me reflecting on power we have within as women to overcome heartache and societal pressure.
