one thing about ali hazelwood mmc’s is that they’re always yearners and pathetically in love and gone for the fmc. you love to see it. i just wish this was longer and available in text tbh.

I was in love. Heartbreakingly and profoundly in love. I loved him, I did, even in such a short time.
i love big city mc x small-town mc romances. usually i’m not a big fan of strangers somehow being in love at first sight, but it somehow worked in this story because it was so sweet. it felt like i was watching a rom-com!
wyatt was the most wholesome character i’ve ever read and i loved how he was always blushing whenever noël was around. wyatt is the definition of a protector and fixer and i absolutely adored how his community came to his aid and how protective they were of him in return. noël is very misunderstood. he had his bi-awakening at such a dramatic moment in his life that all his shortcomings and insecurities make sense and i don’t fault him for any of it.
despite all their differences, these two somehow work. their love is so pure and full of mutual respect and understanding. i just want to keep these two safely in my pocket and protect them from everyone.

There is really nothing more to say - except why. But since why is difficult to handle, one must take refuge in how.
exactly. so much why’s and how’s. my head and heart hurt. the entirety of this book was powerful and the ending hit me really hard. i will be thinking about this for a while.
learning this was toni morrison’s debut novel makes the message even more profound. it was also the first book of hers i read which has made me more interested her later works.

this was so cute!!!!
i loved unsteady and really looked forward to the second book in the series. i am so happy and relieved to say i enjoyed it a lot as well!!
i initially thought this would be a continuation of unsteady. i wasn’t expecting this book to follow the same timeline, but i actually loved how it was like a behind-the-scenes from the crumbs we got in unsteady. like honestly not many authors can make the stories and characters captivating enough to have it take place in the same timelines, but peyton did!! *chefs kiss*
now onto ro and matty (aka freddy): my lovergirl and loverboy. they were so cute and i want them to be protected at all costs. the angst in their stories was so heartbreaking and i got emotional several times. i loved them both individually and even more together. two precious, wholesome cinnamon rolls. they felt like real, mature, and emotionally intelligent people.
i also just want to mention that the found family in this book is so special and sweet. ro, matty, sadie, rhys, liam and oliver, bennett, holden, and all the waterfell hockey team. i love them all so much!! ♡
this book had a lot of potential, and started off strong, but then it kinda just tapered off. the biggest issue for me was the whole focus on ro’s on-and-off-again boyfriend, tyler. the story focused a lot on the mess that was their “relationship” causing ro and matty to not even get together until like 70% into the story! the loser ex was just too much in this book that i got annoyed any time he appeared in a scene. also, the lack of consequences for all the antagonists in this story made me upset, especially with how it was all building up to some big takedown. idk i feel like there could’ve been more justice for ro and matty.
but even though ro and matty didn’t get together until 70% into the story, they were both so wholesome and endearing. their relationship never felt rushed or forced and i loved how they had an existing friendship built on trust and kindness. and the epilogue was so swoon worthy!!! i loved it so much. it was a perfect end for these two, though i do hope to see them in future books.
who’s next in the undone series? my money’s on bennett and paloma, and i really hope tor gets a book too.

wow. wow. wow.
i needed a couple days to write this because of how much i felt. i wanted to gather all my thoughts and emotions.
ok so when i first started reading, i did not really know what to expect. i went in completely blind and was caught off guard that it did not immediately pick off from where the first book left off, but as i read more, i was so impressed by this new story and the point of views. the new (and old characters) we meet and grieve, the relationships that flourish and end too soon, all the nerve wracking tension and breathtaking plot twists. it all captivated me from the start.

Bastyan, the secret ingredient I had not expected … but one that had made the night among the sweetest I could recall in all my life.
bash and lio were so different. and despite being captor and captive, they were still so endearing. i rooted for them the entire time and fell in love with them, with their strengths and especially their weaknesses, the more i read. i fell in love with their friends, the sailors and pirates. i grieved with them and wanted nothing more than for them to be free and live their lives together.
this was such an amazing adventure. i laughed, swooned, cried, got angry, felt so much of everything. this was yet another phenomenal story and showcases renee dugan’s writing skills and excellence. never once was i bored, leaving me blown away with this great second installment. i cannot wait to see what’s next for this fantastical world and beloved characters.
