Clever, sweet, and fun. Pea Soup Disaster is an adventure for children and adults alike, who will enjoy the unique storyline, silly illustrations, and the extra tidbit at the end...Sammy's Secret.
I came into this book really wanting to like it, and I sort of did. I was disappointed. I enjoyed the beginning chapters, but the story was too slow for me. Not much happened, and then when things did happen and I wanted the story to be slow, it seemed to speed through the intense parts, like flashes. I thought her running away was dumb (she would’ve been too hurt to pedal) and then the romance throughout ended up pointless. Sigh.
Powerful. Heartbreaking. Brutal. Real. This book is supposed to make you uncomfortable and open your eyes. And it does all of that. It took me a little bit to get into the story. I think there could’ve been more character development, but how relevant it is masks that. Part 3 to the end had me riveted. There were a few things that bothered me...but the overall story is good and I LOVED Starr’s family.
