1st offense: It's terribly boring.
2nd offense: It does not live up to its cool premise.
3rd offense: It already feels very dated.
4th offense: It's sexist. The doctors and leaders are all men. The women are all sheltered, soft, nurturing. The men are all gregarious, abrasive, scientists.
5th offense: The men get happy, important, and fulfilling endings. The women get to be happy to be their wives.

I appreciate what this book is doing in terms of autism representation (an autistic acquaintance of mine said that this was the best representation they've ever found).

But to call this book a murder mystery or a quest of investigation (as the blurb does) is misleading. It's a literary fiction book about strained family relationships. There's also a dog's death, which gets briefly looked into, but that's really not the focus or the point.

It creates a time skip for one of the characters via time travel, and uses it to the fullest by having the character be mysteriously jaded. Loved it.

I NEED THESE CHARACTERS TO KISS AND ALL THE BOOK IS GIVING ME IS BANTER AND TEAMWORK AND PHILOSOPHY DISCUSSIONS. I love it.

Only 3 stars because the book is just spinning its wheels plot-wise and it's showing.

Compelling and raw, emotional and edgy. Love it.

So many plot holes and yet I can't stop reading it. Loving this.
