I love all the characters. I love how emotionally strong and ready to sacrifice our heroine is. I love the angst and the drama of the romance.

Like Skyward (by Brandon Sanderson), but more dramatic, with a better romance subplot, and I loved it more.

A lot of fun! Very much leaning into superhero tropes without being cheesy over the top.

Did I see the plot twist coming over a book ago? Yes.
Was the reveal of that plot twist still jaw-droppingly awesome? Also yes.

I love the additional POVs for the sidekicks.

I want to find every book in this series and swallow it whole. Extraordinary.

One thing I love about this series is that the status quo significantly changes from book to book as a reaction to the plot.

This is the book where Miles learns about being a commander. When to give orders, when to follow them, when to get out of the way, and when to rebel. The plot includes arctic military bases slowly going crazy with cabin fever, looming intergalactic war, and space pirates.

Somehow this book got me to both hate and love the character of Mark.
