I had such high expectations for this book for the longest time and sadly it didn't live up to them. The setup and the idea behind it are really interesting, but the execution didn't cut it for me. The changes in narration felt all over the place, and the amount of characters thrown in there didn't make it easy for me to be able to recognize them or feel anything special towards them. Sadly I just wanted it to be over not because I wanted the resolution but because I couldn't stand the book for the most part (some were interesting, like the ending). I can see the appeal, it's just not for me.

I came to this book without expecting too much, but it has now become one of my favorite books ever. Such a heartwarming, hopeful and lovely story, without unnecessary dramas and with such a refreshing attention to detail in terms of relationships.

This is probably the best book of the series so far. Think whatever we want about the author as a person, but as an author, she's incredible. The level of detail, world building and development is fascinating and this book, although long, never felt like it wasted a single line; it felt like silk. I simply couldn't put it down and I can't wait for the next book. Just wow! 

This is an incredible way to pick up the story, I thoroughly enjoyed the shifting perspectives in the chapters and how much we got to learn about the character's past as well as their development in the present. A must read for fans of the genre.

Great read, a bit slow at the beginning but it definitely catches up by the middle of it (regarding rhythm). Cormoran Strike is quite an interesting and complex character that makes up for the uniqueness of this story.
