An incredibly complex, yet fascinating and easy to get into story. This book captivated me from the very beginning, and its narrative was a delight to read. The folklore it depicts, the analogies and metaphors to history and daily lives. A book that I need to get back to many times to grasp to its fullest and that leaves me with a hole in my heart, thinking about darkness and the voices that leave us.

I gotta say this book was a slow burn for me. The first half had its moments but overall I didn't feel passionate about it and didn't produce in me the urge to finish it, it's rather slow and sometimes I wish there had been more details on the situations instead of jumping so much in time; but the second half was amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed it and got extremely attached to the characters, in part because the author makes a great job at building the characters and their backstories, but also by providing situations that move the plot. I ended up legit crying and that to me is a win.

Taylor Jenkins keeps proving us all that she writes with crack and it's impossible not to like the characters of her non-existent celebrity universe. As a tennis fan, this was exciting to read.
