Beautifully written and thought provoking. I really loved watching Mari grow into herself. I so wanted to yell at her parents for sheltering her. I wanted to yell at Mami for not doing what she thinks is best. I wanted to yell at Papi for not hearing and listening to Mari . I love how the book wrapped up. Very hopeful.

What a beautiful story about a horrible inevitable life experience. Only made better by the author’s note at the end. It gave me chills.

Very cute “love conquers all” plot line within a “coming to terms with your identity” story. Love the additional info at the beginning and end of the book. Great book for anyone who may be questioning their queerness.

I swear on my life I did not know I was getting into a conversion camp story. I went to tell my spouse that this story was not what I prepared to read and started to read them the description. I quickly found I had just failed to read the description.
All that aside, this book was amazing!!! So well written. I can’t believe the majority of the story one happened over the span of a couple days. Would definitely recommend this one. Read the content warnings first though
