this was just ok. learning about a new culture - new ohrsses, foods, etc - was fun. but the plot wasn't as thrilling as I hoped. the ending felt rushed. and I was hoping for a why but the author left things up to intepretation.

as a tarot newbie loved that element of the book. this narrator on the audiobook was one of the best I've ever listened to. I enjoyed this more than the other ruth ware book I read. I was skeptical but this felt more possible.

I listened to this as an audiobook and think it would have been better if I physically read it. it was hard to keep up with so many characters. casual vacancy vibes

it is very rare a sequel is better than the first. I really really enjoyed this book. in the first I felt I was desiring so much at the end. but I feel very satisfied even with the cliffhanger into the final book. which is good cause I have to wait 7 months.
aome chapters are so short it does feel like a scene abruptly ends. that was in the last book too, but only really in the beginning of this one.
I love wrath so much. the character development in Emilia is *chefs kiss* this book. I enjoy all the folklore elements.

I liked the premise of the plot but I felt the conclusion the main character drew were obviously wrong and too "easy". so I was expecting a twist. and when I got it I felt like I didn't get enough detail. the ending felt a bit lacking to me.

I liked the characters and the idea of brujx culture. the plot just felt ok to me. while I liked the characters I had a hard time really focusing on the main plot. I was more interested in the LGBTQ+ acceptance in family/others and confidence of the MC than I was in the mystery. as far as the romance goes this might have just been too young of a love for me to really be invested in, but it was cute nonetheless.

a magical school where everything is out to get you. a lot of action and darkness. I really had to push through the first chapter cause there are a lot of new words, some of which aren't explained right away. but I'm glad I did.
having a very pessimistic main character was super different to me and my personality that at first I was unsure. but her sarcasm and back story made it all come together nicely. I loved so many scenes in the last chapter and wish there was more like that - I'm hopeful for book 2.

this book was just ok to me. while I felt the teenage angst and tension between mother/daughter was relatable the grief element was (fortunately) not super relatable for me. I did like the food and cultural insights. I felt the end had me wanting a bit more - especially about her husband and her fathers relationships with the author.

this book is fine. it was a little lackluster for me based on all the hype online. for a book about vacation and travel I didn't feel like I got much of that vibe. a lot was just focused on the 2 people and those interactions could have happened in a variety of places.
