Amy's books all center in WI and around sometime of food. In this one, it's supper clubs, brandy old fashioned and the Dells.

I love the sweet style of the writing and stories. Romance with brains and self awareness, not the fall head over heels forget who you are trope.

Did I pick up this book because my husband's name is Erik? Why yes yes I did. He also is half norwegian and I believe this cover would be the spitting image of him as a kid. Another tidbit he also mountain bikes

This was a fun read. Which is weird because the main character is afraid of everything! If he could, he would spend all day in a little cave he made under his bed.
His family never makes fun of him or puts him down. More that they just ignore the problem, until Erik and his sister go to stay with their aunt and uncle

Brunhilde wages war in viking style on helping Erik overcome his phobias. What ensues next is a series of hilarious interactions and the heartwarming love of family.

I would have given up on this, except several people I know gave it high reviews.

I feel like it came around in the end, and ended on a hopeful note, but for most of the read, I found it depressing. Not in a manner that a depressing topic or subject makes you feel strongly and think greatly about life, but in a very sad, hopeless kind of feeling.

I truly do believe that what is going on in my personal life can greatly impact how a view a piece of work, and maybe that is what was going on here. I wouldn't discount that

Quick read. Great if looking for a light romance ( nothing explicit, some light kissing) for teens.

Hmmm... Not the sweet quick christmas romance I expected it to be.

2 fated lovers who could never make the timing work.

This story was very slow moving. It covered 10 years of Laurie and Jack's lives. While there were moments of tension, there wasn't enough to really keep the story moving quickly.
