I always felt that the Keep Calm and Carry On fad was a bit out of control. And when we went to London I saw it there too...only to find out, that it was in Britain that the phrase was created. I saw this book at the Churchill War Rooms, and was intrigued. I'm glad I didn't spend the money there and found a copy stateside.

This book was a history on the use of propaganda posters during World War II in Britain. Oddly enough, the "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster was never used during the war and was long forgotten.

7 months in the life of someone transitioning. Showcases the rollercoaster of emotions that happen when experiencing gender dysphoria.

Still my favorite one so far

I received an advanced reader copy of this from the publisher via Net Galley.

I am going to preface my review with: The only reason I picked up this book was because the main character was originally from my hometown, Kenosha, Wisconsin. That was my main curiosity and motivation for getting this book.

That being said. I feel the story moved quite quickly and kept me motivated to continue reading the story, especially considering that the subject matter (war, nazis, espionage) and format (graphic novel) are not my normal choices for reading material.

As I said before, the story moves quickly, and the author does a great job of notating time jumps. a solid base of trust and support that is needed was well represented.

One thing I didn't like, and I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, was the drawing of Nina. She looked like all the other male characters, but with long hair.

I'm convinced. Hermione needs her own book. She does so much legwork, provides endless support and solves issues that we only see wrapped in a a one page summary. For the life of me, I cannot see how Ron and Hermione end up together. Especially with how little he actually pays attention to her.

That's beef no 1. Hermione spends all her time at the beginning of the book in the library doing research. Harry and Ron just accept this and don't even bother to find out what she is doing? And then when they do, they dismiss her idea. Hello, how many times does she have to prove to you that she knows what she is doing!!!

And she essentially keeps Harry on track for preparing for task 3.

I love love love that no matter what others think, she continues on doing what she wants and knows is right. Stick with it Hermione!!! Although-- what happened to her free the elves campaign. It kind of when silent.

I will be interested to see if Mad Eye Moony is in the next book ( I know I've watched the movies, but I seriously can't remember his role in the events. I even forgot about it in this book) I sense that he will be, but I am not sure in what capacity.

For anyone who has done the nightime routine runaround.

This book cracked me up. A little kid is given a sleepy time buddy, but when it turns out the buddy can talk, we are sent down an endless cycle of him doing everything he can to prolong going to bed. Maybe I found this so hilarious because I am currently many years removed from these antics, but it reminded me vividly of those day.

That, and I envision our children's librarians playing this out during storytime--I can't wait.

I’m intrigued. I forgot why I ordered this from the library until I started in on it. I always have difficulty with other world and alternative languages. I’ll try vol 2 to see if I can move forward or need to stop

It was a fine book, I just wish it had more of the fairytale aspect I was looking for.
