A very interesting read. The book centered around the main characters researching lucid dreaming.
A fun, quirky book with illustrations that are just as quirky. Very eye catching. At times it seems at it was written in prose, other times as a string of consciousness, with quotes thrown in as well.
This was a fun listen. Many times I found myself cracking up.
I picked this up upon the recommendation of a coworker. and I'm glad that I did.
The funniest, was my husband heard a few snippets of this book on different days, without knowing the title of the book--his comment "This guy sure likes to talk about food" :P

What a beautiful book. Just like the Night Gardener, the illustrations are beautiful and draw you in to dream and gaze a bit longer.
This is a wonderful story of a little boy who falls asleep and dreams of going to heaven, or something of the sort, to see his grandfather, where the ocean meets the sky.

I liked this one. It talks about how Lagom is a Swedish way of life, but it’s not just a Swedish thing. Thank you—most books gloss over this. Lagom is similar to hygge, and many other ways of living in other cultures. The author breaks the perception that all Swedes live and love this way of life.
This book goes into how you incorporate the principles of lagom into your own life, broken down by work, home, health, and environment.

This book is about self-image, first love, friendship breakups, and doing something that scares you. And never have I had a book want me to go out and listen to Dolly Parton before.
Willowdean is a teenage daughter of a former pageant queen. When we meet her, she is confident in her skin and her size. She knows she is overweight and that people judge and make fun of her, but she doesn’t let that her bother her. Then she meets Bo, and at the same time her and her best friend Ellen “break-up”. And suddenly Willowdean’s sureness cracks. In addition, she is mourning the loss of her Aunt Lucy, who Willowdean feels was more of a mother to her.
Along the way, she befriends other “misfits” and finds friends and comfort in them in a way she hadn’t expected, when all their walls start to come down. She starts to regain her confidence and stand on her feet again.
As someone who was never comfortable in her skin, especially in high school, I really appreciated that JULIE Murphy shows that even though you aren’t the perfect whatever, you can be proud of who you are.
I am really looking forward to reading Puddin’

This was an exercise in speed reading. I like the material covered, but didn't feel the need to read with great depth.
I liked that the author was not Swedish, and could provide and insight into how/when things were different from her upbringing. But she is not wholly an outsider, having married into and moved to the culture.

Not only do you get a cookbook with nummy treats, but you get a side of humor to go with it. Who else can make a review of the different types of sugar look more like a dating profiles. It just adds a little spark to make this cookbook stand out among the sea of cookbooks. Intermixed with the recipes are tips "hacks" to take the baking to the next level, and also factoids that relate to baking, but not technique related.
I loved the illustrations added to the baked goods too.
Heather's philosophy on taking energy spent on your anger, madness, revenge and devoting it to baking is brilliant. How can you be mad, when you are making something so delicious.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes a bit of humor added to their life.

3.5 stars.
At first this book was a little difficult to follow. With having 3 narrators, the chapters were long enough that when they cycled through them, it too a bit to remember who was who. Once I made myself a chart with all the key players and how they were related, it made it much easier
This book is about grief, and the many faces/stages/ and ways it manifests. Each of the narrators has faced a death of someone close to them- sister, best friend, ex boyfriend— who died way too young.
This would be a great book for anyone struggling with how to handle grief to show that no matter how you do/don’t express it—it’s okay.
A ton of ground was covered here, and in some cases I think a few shortcuts were made to accommodate that. Hence the 3.5 stars.

Simon Prebble is the perfect narrator for this!!!
Late in his career, Stevens, a quintessential British butler, embarks on a road trip to see Ms. Kenton, a former coworker of his. This is probably the first "vacation" he has ever taken in his life. Along the way, Stevens recollects his life at Darlington Hall.
Stevens spends his life in complete pursuit of completing his duties to the highest level of professionalism. Unfortunately, this comes as a detriment to his personal relationships. I wanted to scream at him at times for being so daft!!!
My heart broke at the end as he realizes what was set aside in life, to maintain his professional duty.
