The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
4.0

Simon Prebble is the perfect narrator for this!!!

Late in his career, Stevens, a quintessential British butler, embarks on a road trip to see Ms. Kenton, a former coworker of his. This is probably the first "vacation" he has ever taken in his life. Along the way, Stevens recollects his life at Darlington Hall.

Stevens spends his life in complete pursuit of completing his duties to the highest level of professionalism. Unfortunately, this comes as a detriment to his personal relationships. I wanted to scream at him at times for being so daft!!!

My heart broke at the end as he realizes what was set aside in life, to maintain his professional duty.
