I didn't really like it,but I felt compelled to keep going
The quick changes from Hannah's tape to Clay's thoughts really threw me at first. That's not the style I am used to reading and it was difficult for my brain to determine who was talking at first. I had to read several passages over and over to get it straight.
About half way through the book I was finally able to settle into the groove.
I do believe that the book is good at is portraying how difficult it is to pinpoint if someone is suicidal or not. In hind sight, several characters felt they should have seen the signs. Humans are such a unique breed and our minds are so complex. It's difficult to discern anger from hurt, introversion from depression. Add into that the ever changing hormones in teens. A single instance/conversation would not be enough to pinpoint destructive behavior
I find it slightly implausible that Hannah was in a depressed enough state to consider her own death to plan the creation of and delivery of the tapes, then go to school before taking her own life. The actions seem a bit to premeditated. Doing these actions require motivation and drive. I don't think that is typically seen in someone about to take their life. I was always under the notion that a suicidal person often has a plan on how to take their own life, but the final action is one done when despondent, not necessarily planned to a specific day or time. But I am not a psychologist, so I could be wrong.

I am such a sucker for fairy tale remakes to begin with, but I truly loved this story. It's really interesting to read a story in which the ending is already foretold, because that is always in the back of your mind, trying to figure out, in all of the interactions, what causes her to turn evil.
In this story, we meet Cath. The daughter of the Marquess and Marchioness (what even is that?) in the city of Hearts. We come to discover that the King of Hearts is planning to propose to her. Her parents couldn't be more thrilled. Cath on the other hand, wants nothing to do with it. She aspires to open

Bleh. It was the same thing all over again. It wasn't until the last 100-150 pages that I felt the author really began to explore to inner workings of Christian Grey. Too long to go to get to that part based on where they ended the book, there are bound to be 2 more of the same.
Read this short when I was on a plane without another book on my nook. It was a quick read. Really gets into the story quick__which it better for such a short story. I liked the twist, but I was left wanting more.
Read this book, as H read it in class and wanted me to read it. We recently started listening to the Rick Riordan 39 Clues audio book Maze of Bones, and the beginning was about the same. I never finished listening, so I cannot draw any other parrallels.
I love the surprise twist in this story. And that you never knew until the end who did it. However, I feel that because there were so many characters in this book, that it was difficult to follow who knew what and what all the clues were.
Good book if you like a light mystery, but not if you like to try and solve mysteries.
