Typically, I prefer reading (and reviewing) paranormal or historical romance. That’s really my happy place when it comes to romance. I don’t venture too far outside this little box. Why would I? I know what I like and I like what I like! BUT…A.K. MacBride is an author I will always say yes to! Having read her Willow Creek series, I was looking forward to all the feels again and she didn’t disappoint.
Make Me Whole is a “fairly” clean second chance romance. I say fairly because there is still plenty of heat and naughty thoughts. The chemistry between Hailey and Bradley smolders.

As part of Unnerving's Rewind or Die series, I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into Food Fright by Nico Bell. I honestly didn't even care about the blurb; Look at that cover! You just know all kinds of cheesy goodness is waiting inside!
Food Fright not only leads us through the teenage high school angst of trying to be one of the it crowd, but it also does it in a deliciously disastrous way. Cassie Alder wants so badly to be part of the inner circle—so much in fact, that she'll help the soccer team captain and her flunkies initiate Jennifer, a freshman that made the varsity team if it means that Cassie can belong to their group. When Jennifer escapes her tormentors and stumbles upon the scene of witchcraft gone wrong, events are set in motion to make sure they get their just desserts.

I wasn't sure about this series to start with, but hey, it was on Kindle Unlimited and I needed a book to read. Plus, that cover is pretty eye-catching in a dark and gritty urban fantasy kind-of-way. In spite of the blurb promising that it wasn't weird weird, it sounded weird weird. Was this some sort of BDSM reverse harem? Not that I'm knocking it. If that's your thing, you do you, boo.

After reading How to Kiss an Undead Bride: The Epilogues, a novella in The Beginner's Guide to Necromancy, I honestly wasn't sure if I was interested in continuing the series. I know it's called The Epilogues, but I hate time jumps in a series and we jumped years for that novella. After all, look at how well that worked for Harry Potter. (Was anyone really happy with that ending? I don't think so.) Also, while I don't mind romance in my urban fantasy, when it overtakes it..? Bleh. The plot completely fell to the wayside to focus on the uber-obsessive lovie-dovie relationship that Linus and Grier have. All that = moving on. Unfortunately, some authors do reach that point where the series just needs to end. I really thought we were there BUT...

Anthologies are usually a lot of fun for me. I love that authors can create within the confines of the short story. I was expecting Strange Girls to be similar to Betty Bites Back, a female-centric feminist anthology that I recently read. Betty Bites Back featured women who were fed up with the misogyny of the system and were "biting back". Azzurra Nox, who selected all the stories in Strange Girls, also had a story featured in Betty Bites Back.
Unfortunately, while I enjoyed all of the stories in Betty Bites Back—albeit some more than others—I did not find the stories in Strange Girls to be equal to the task. While the stories did all feature girls or women and did all have elements of horror, they appeared a bit disjointed and didn't follow any other common theme.

Midnight in the Graveyard is quite a large anthology of horror stories. Clocking in at 408 pages for the paperback and 445 for the kindle version, this is one compilation of stories that will bust any boredom you may have. It almost reads like a whos-who of horror: Kealan Patrick Burke, Alan M. Clark, John Everson, Chad Lutzke, and Glenn Rolfe are just a few of the names gracing the cover. Among them is a bevy of horror newcomers with stories just as exceptional.
