I tried so hard to get through this book, I just couldn't. I absolutely hate Alvie, and none of the other characters were decent enough for me to care about them.

"With this book, Sally Horner takes precedence. Like the butterflies that Vladimir Nabokov so loved, she emerges from the cage of both fiction and fact, ready to fly free."
When I started this book I had never heard of Sally Horners case, nor have I read Lolita.
This book was split into incredibly sad and incredibly frustrating.
Learning about Sally's case and her life afterwards was devastating. She lead a short life so full of sorrow, it was difficult to get through.
The parts about Nabokov were more frustrating to me. It held alot about how he wrote and his life but it seemed like alot of fluff, or not extremely necessary to the story. Chapter 18, When Nabokov (really) learned about Sally, really got into the bones of wether or not he knew of Sally horners case while he was writing Lolita.
This book made some interesting connections from Sally's case to the book Lolita. While no one can say true or false expect for Nabokov, it was interesting to read about.
"Sally Horner can't be cast aside so easily.....A girl immortalized, and forever trapped, in the pages of a classic novel of satire and sadness, like a butterfly with wings damaged before ever having the chance to fly."

The graphic novel misses entire chunks of the actual story. It seems to jump randomly through the story, not explaining much of how the characters got there.

This book was so good, but I 100% believe the epilogue ruined everything. It was unnecessary and tried to add a pretty little bow on top and it didn't fit the vibe of the rest of the book at all.
I flew though this book, it's extremely fast pace and once shit hits the fan about half way I could not set it down till I was done. There were several twists at the end and Holy Crow, they were wild. I didn't see them coming and my jaw was on the floor.
If you have a thing for toxic men, you're gonna love Hook.

What a wild ride..
I really liked the way this book was written, it flowed wonderfully, and the way the suspense built up was amazing. The details in the story were great without being too much and getting in the way. The multiple perspectives it flips through gives a in depth and emotional story that wouldn't have worked from just one perspective.
This book was addicting, once I started it was incredibly hard to put it down.

Some parts of this book were phenomenal but other parts dragged on and slowed down the story.
I loved getting to know Anastasia and Nathan. The interactions they had with each other and their friends, you could tell it was thought out and I liked seeing the friendships form.
I was taken aback by the strict dieting and disordered eating that Anastasia was going through, I can see how that could be a common thing for skaters but I wasnt prepared for that to be in this story.

There was something about the way it was written that I didn't like. The beginning felt choppily written.
Overall it was a decent story, not a standard love story and I really enjoyed that about it.

Simple stories with happy endings. Lacked in the holiday vibes.
