Having a hard time following who is who and whether events are past or present on audio. I think this will need to be a print read for me.

I’m usually fine enough with the miscommunication trope but we can’t be this far into the book and the MCs haven’t even thought about talking to each other yet. 

Can’t handle hearing the narrator take a wet inhale at the start of every sentence. I’ve really been looking forward to this book so I’ll pick it up some other time in print. 

Too much repeating the same few facts over and over again, both in each character’s internal monologue and in dialogue. It made the book feel like it was hardly advancing even when the action was moving fast. 

I can't really grasp what's going on because nothing is explained, not even through context clues over time. I like the characters and the setting but it all feels purposely opaque.

Over 1/3 in and the plot and main character have hardly moved forward at all. I like all the characters but I can already tell this will be a 400 page slog.

What we’re not going to do in 2023 is finish books that casually drop in the R word for no reason. 

This might turn out to be a cute love story but I can’t with a main character who can throw around terms like “allocishet” and “comphet” but also needs her best friend to repeatedly explain to her how sapphics have sex and that it still “counts” even without penetration. 

Writing is kind of clunky, a lot of overly explanatory conversations. Not as quick and shiny as the premise suggests. 

8 hours in and I feel like we’ve hardly moved plotwise. Might try this later in print since I could read it a bit faster that way.
