I’m not a big fan of romance, so I decided not to give this book a rating. However, as far as books in the genre go, this is great. There are none of the common problematic stuff you find in most romances, I loved the writing, supporting characters were unique and fleshed-out and really fun, and even my icy heart was rooting for the main couple (despite the predictability of the relationship). They are both were adorable.
I read this mostly because I was interested in the autism representation (own-voice!). I learned a lot and cleared many misconceptions I had. I’m really glad a book like this exists.
If you like romance, I daresay you’ll love this book.

Well, this was one hell of a ride.
I wasn’t too happy with the overuse of rape as a plot device and all the many, many characters did my head in at times, but overall I had a bloodydamn great time reading this. The writing is fast paced as hell and it works brilliantly with the story. I loved the techs. I loved the crazy society (and can’t wait to see it crumble to the ground). I absolutely hated that some of my favourite characters died, but that’s just part of the experience.
Most fun I’ve had with a book in a very long time, to be honest.

This was so very long. I liked the worldbuilding and the characters, but the story never really grabbed my attention and it took me months to finish (I kept picking up other books). Still, a cute middle grade story with some of the loveliest writing style I’ve seen in a long while.

Okay. So this is definitely a case of it’s-not-you-it’s-me.
I’m asexual. This book should have watered my plants, walked my dog, cured my headache. Except that it didn’t. The writing didn’t work. It was too much of feel-good, cuteness-overload story for me to handle. Sorry. I just wasn’t cut out to read those.
(It doesn’t help that I didn’t really feel represented by the MC. Again, definitely a case of my-asexuality-is-different, but I was bored from the fourth paragraph on.)
I don’t feel comfortable rating this, especially as I didn’t even read half of it, so let’s just leave it like this.
If you wanted to educate yourself a bit re: asexuality or are more patient than me, do check this out. The first four chapters should be enough to help you decide if you can stomach the story or not.

victoria schwab could publish her grocery list and i’d rate it five stars, shelf it with my all time favourites and buy four different editions just because
