This is why I don’t trust BookTok. This book is only enjoyable if you don’t look too closely at the plot. Because the moment you start questioning the storyline or the characters’ motivations, it becomes unbearable. But even if you decide to ignore that, none of the relationships felt natural — not necessarily rushed, but definitely not believable. Even the dialogue felt forced. Like, seriously, no one talks like that. So I quickly started skipping pages (a lot of them — which is why I’m marking it as DNF, even though I technically made it to the end).

To be honest, I think this has been the weakest book in the series so far. The first half felt like a total sidequest with no real impact on the main plot, and I had a bit of a hard time staying engaged through that part. But even then, I just love reading about this kind of protagonist — someone incredibly capable, thrown into impossible situations, and still managing to come out on top. By the last quarter, things got really interesting again, and now I can’t wait to start the next one.

Reading these books (or listening to them, as I’m doing) is like watching a show on Netflix. Is it the best story ever told? No. But I’m entertained and keep hitting “next episode.”

I really wanted to love this book—arranged marriage stories are one of my favorite tropes—but this one just didn’t deliver.
It starts off slow, which I don’t always mind, but the pacing made it hard to stay engaged. One of the major plot twists was painfully obvious early on, which took a lot of the tension out of the story.
At first, I liked the protagonist. She was a little naive, sure, but she seemed interesting and had potential for growth. But then halfway through, her personality did a complete 180. Out of nowhere, she suddenly believes she can handle everything alone. She becomes recklessly overconfident, even when her actions put others in danger just because they have to protect her.
And of course, there’s the classic fantasy shortcut: a few training scenes and suddenly she’s just as skilled as lifelong warriors. I get wanting a capable heroine, but this felt completely unearned.
The plot itself didn’t help much either—it felt scattered and unfocused, like the author kept throwing in twists and tropes without fully committing to any of them.

Entertaining and fast. I have been enjoying this series and it´s characters. Will continue reading.

Just as entertaining as the rest of the books in this universe.
Will definitely be reading the next one.

DID NOT FINISH: 63%

The romance felt too rushed and the fmc, as well as the mmc, were being idiots, keeping information from each other without any good reason so the plot could develop.
