This was so cringey. The dialogue was written as if a 40 year old was trying to write teenagers...who speaks in hashtags? Who calls someone thirst trap? What teenager actually acts like an influencer in every facet possible? Rowans behavior was just grimy, Matteo is actual trash, Gia is shallow as shit, and it took Tahira way too long to get a grip. The storyline was also incredibly boring. The only reason this gets 3 stars is because juniper is one of 3 redeeming characters.
I wanted to love this and I thought I would but i was absolutely bored to tears and I had a lot of issues with this story. Violet is 29, but she has the most annoying personality and acts incredibly immature. This is a romance right? There needs to be sparks? Chemistry? It's also supposed to be a tension filled enemies to lovers. Violet and Matt felt so wooden together, honestly, what connection? The tension/nemesis part was so poorly done. What tension? And Matt said some rude shit about a spilled coffee? A big ol' nope from me.
One of the best middle grades ever. Heather Fawcett's imagination and storytelling knows no bounds. I loved the 3 siblings, each were so unique in their magic and personalities while also having great dynamics with one another. The details and descriptions of the island were absolutely astonishing and beautiful, everything was painted so vividly. Speaking of magic, this story had so many different kinds with many of them being unique to this story. The intrigue and plot were executed flawlessly.
Well this was disappointing. The humor was on point and the friendship was sweet. I know this is supposed to be a comedy horror but this tried to make the possession both funny and scary and under delivered for both. Also, the thing with the bunnies was weird. This was ultimately boring and took way too long for anything to really happen. Grady Hendrix's My Best Friend's Exorcism did it better.
This is easily one of the best middle grades I've read, from the vivid imagery that Van Hoang paints to the important messages throughout this book. The use of Asian culture and the beautiful descriptions really brought this to life. I loved Thom and the friendship/family/bullying aspects here, that you shouldn't be afraid of your heritage or ashamed, but also, don't just watch someone be bullied. I can't wait to pick up the sequel.
I love Anne of Green Gables and this was such a sweet story. The characters always warm my heart, I loved the short length, and the illustrations were STUNNING! Such a beautiful story.
This was so precious! Rosie is the best dog ever and this is the perfect read for your little ones! The illustrations were cute and the story was cozy.
So easy to fall in love with this story. The world, characters, magic, and storytelling is beautiful and imaginative and the illustrations are absolutely phenomenal. This was a delight.
This was fun, kinda spooky and kinda cheesy (in a good way), and I loved the adventure our cast of characters went on. This was super easy to get into and super fast paced. Also, I loved the illustrations.
