I have such a soft spot for witchy books, especially wholesome witchy books that have found family, adventure, and a dash of romance. This tugged on all of my heart strings and the banter was witty and I absolutely adored our characters, especially Aihuan and Az. I absolutely devoured this story!
Someone described this book as "vampire Addie LaRue" and I had to see for myself. I was shocked by how close that description was. I absolutely loved Colette's backstory, the time jumps, and her protectiveness of Leo. Leo's parents SUCK btw. This was such a beautiful and atmospheric story, and the ending? Oh wow oh wow oh wow. That last few sentences gave me chills.
This is the 2nd worst book I've ever had the misfortune of reading. This was hours of my life I won't get back. This would have been SOOO much better without Bree. The only thing I could think while reading this was "people like this?!" Don't read this unless you like wasting your time.
Everything about this was so cute and perfect. The romance, the plant love, the dogs, all of it was so so so good. I loved the mental health rep and I loved how chaotic and optimistic Hallie was. One thing I didn't care for or understand, was the secret notes. They didn't add anything and without them, the story still would have been great. Tessa Bailey never fails with the steam though.
This was some of the best storytelling that I've read. This was so many things. Eerie, atmospheric, haunting, unsettling, raw, and heart racing to name a few. Everyone forgetting who Douglas is, the bloodthirsty creature in the woods, murder, and mayhem created an amazing dark academia thriller.
