Note: I’m still wondering how all these petals could fit in that cup? 🤔
Generally, I love almost anything vampire, especially of the evil vamp kind! I was pretty excited for this one, not only because it had vamps, but because it takes place in the 1800s!
So to start with, I liked the characters but didn't love them. Something about Celine had me not connecting with her fully. I mean, she's a good character but I wanted something more. Bastien was great, probably my favorite, but he still felt underdeveloped at times. I think there needed to be more conversations between him and Celine before the romance developed. But I will say that their chemistry was on fire and Ahdieh knows how to write those scenes!!
The writing was gorgeous but sometimes could be distracting when I just wanted the story to move forward. Also, I wanted more of the paranormal, but I did like the character driven parts as well. But still! Overall, I think this book would work better as a movie because I’d love to see the period’s fashion and the awesome 1800s world laid out before me. I’ll also say that cliffhanger killed me and I need to see what happens next!

So I was hoping for something light and fluffy and while this did have some of that, it also felt bland at times. I had "The Vow" movie vibes from the book with the whole memory loss and the mc being able to remember nothing after a certain year. It seemed super coincidental.
I thought Wes was really cute and sweet, and the beginning of the book made perfect sense with their fight with Penny acting like a dramatic teen. Even though Penny should have just told Wes the problem with her mom to begin with! But my biggest issue was that once she lost her memory, there weren't many scenes between Penny and Wes to truly build that bond back up and recover the lapse in time. It felt very odd actually.
However this is a super quick and easy read with very cute moments, especially the star scene in the beginning.

Oh man... So I really liked the writing in Damsel which is why I requested this one to read. But I just couldn’t finish this one because I didn’t know it was written in second person POV!! I just can’t do the second person! 😩
Contemporary is the genre where I'm the pickiest. Like, when I love it I love it, but it's so hard for me to find that perfect one! What drew me into this one was the cover and the setting being in Tokyo.
I loved Sophia. She had her struggles and acted like an actual teen! There was drama within her friendships which also made it seem like real life. And Jamie! Oh, dear lord, I loved him so much and his adorableness!
And the setting is in freaking Tokyo! I seriously would like to go and visit there one day. What made me really connect with this story was the wonderful writing, the witty dialogue, the gorgeous descriptions.
Honestly, I loved this book, and it goes right up there with my favorites like Anna and the French Kiss and all of Jenn Bennett's contemporaries. My only complaint is that I would have been super ecstatic for an epilogue.

After finishing Seven Days of You by the author, I knew I had to check out her other book because I loved SDOY one so much! Also, a book about backpacking across Europe to different cities sounded freaking amazing!
In this book there are two POVs and two different couples which I seriously adored! Rae and Clara were probably my favorites! I also really loved Gabe and Aubrey's connection. My one main issue was that Aubrey had a boyfriend to begin with who is friends with all four of them, so that rubbed me the wrong way a little bit. But Jonah and Aubrey's relationship just wasn't meant to be so I understood.
I swear, Vinesse writes the best contemporary prose that draws me right into the plot. I could visualize each city and every scene perfectly. And! This is the perfect read for the summer!

My favorite character since day one has been Thomas. And he has continued to become even more so with each passing book.
Getting this story from his perspective was like a prayer answered. I loved being inside his head and seeing the struggles within himself and his love for Audrey Rose. So sweet!
Maniscalco’s writing is glorious, addicting, and captivating. I can’t wait to read the last book in the series!

After reading What the Woods Keep by the author, I knew I had to get my hands on Oasis. The summary along with the cover had me absolutely intrigued. And did somebody say desert? My, my, yes they did!
Alif was the perfect protagonist because she was imperfect and you loved her, and you wanted to ask her what she was doing at times, and you were right there along with her wanting to know what was going on in this desert! And Tommy! Swoon! I loved him! Inside the oasis, Alif and her five friends encounter things where it makes them hard to trust each other, where it breaks them apart, where it creates new bonds, and it utterly had my pulse accelerating.
Now, let's get down to this desert business! It was magically eerie and creepy with a side of amazingly weird. There is mystery, and worry, and at times I wondered, is this even real? I could definitely see this on and episode of the Twilight Zone—the old ones that were awesome!
And seriously, this needs to be made into a movie! ASAP! The writing was addicting and the story an intense page turner! I can't wait to see what book the author comes up with next! Oh, and genre-bending books are the best!

Oh boy, I absolutely loved To Kill a Kingdom but this book was just so slow for me that I found it hard to connect to the characters or the story. However, the author’s writing is just as lovely as her previous book.
I was confused with this one a lot. I love crows but not sure what I was expecting? The cool thing was that there were a lot of unique things.
I was confused here because the book felt middle grade for me but I guess it’s YA? Sometimes it felt too wordy when I just wanted it to get some action. The world building is neat, though, just wish it was a little more fast paced.
