This one was dark, but also fun? I enjoyed the tech established and the rules that the author came up with. Loved the characters and their flaws and despite how desolate it feels, there's still a hopeful ending! Honestly, I was surprised that there was--I was expecting much worse.

2.75 I love Aurthurian legend and I was excited about this female-lead retelling. I also like funny books and even the odd pop-culture reference. This one was just... too much of those things? I feel like it tried to be TOO zany and just came off as cheesy and heavy-handed. It started as a fairly light-hearted YA and then nose-dived into adult sexual themes and character deaths to the point that I was questioning if one author wrote the first half and the other the second half because it was weirdly disjointed.

Despite that, I was still able to finish it and when I wasn't cringing, it was an okay time. Won't be reading the second book though.

I liked how this took the mythology and wove in and around it with the side character and really gave them a whole life and personality and everything. Unfortunately, I think it was too long and flagged in quite a few places and might have benefited from some more editing as I lost interest quite a few times but then got back in eventually.
