This was cute. Nothing ground-breaking, but a fun romance story with a different premise than most I've read in the past. It was easy to read, a little laggy in parts and more interesting in others.
This was cute! I adore the art more than any other graphic novel I've read recently. North has a really dreamy quality about their art which really softens the scifi aspects of it. The world was cool, but lacked some depth in quite a few areas.
The plot was fairly lacking, however. This was definitely just a slice of life, but mostly only focused on the characters' relationship with each other and not much on them as individuals. Even when they weren't together, the story focused on talking about the other still so there was no growth. It was cutesy, but just felt lacking.

This was cute, but a little lacking in the plot department. I think it was attempting to make the conflict feel urgent and impactful, but it fell short of really making me connect with it. The climax just felt messy and rushed. But I really enjoyed seeing the little group texts interwoven through the story. It really helped give a peek into how the other characters were feeling the absence of Morgan and also the guilt she carried by not answering. It was a smart way to use a different medium aside from just the art.
The art is really, really great. It was one of the things that made me buy this immediately. Molly designs rich, diverse characters and does an amazing job with expressions that say so much in one little panel. She also designs fantastic scenes and I'm not gonna lie, the outfits were also a huge hit for me. I totally loved seeing all the different looks. I'm definitely going to take a look at Witch Boy.

This was a surprising favorite. The magic system is very strange at first--definitely takes some getting used to, but it was so interesting and something I hadn't quite encountered before so I was fairly invested from the start. And let's face it, a talking key is the weirdest thing to begin with and somehow it just doesn't seem that strange once you're in the world.
Every character had a rich feel to them and that's including a key. I was even knocked over by surprise queerness! I hadn't expected it, yet it was a lovely addition to an already interesting story. I like the rag-tag gang that has banned together at the end of this novel and am excited to see where they head to next.

This was a really good read. I think the book would have benefited with a bit more relationship building at the beginning, though I had no issue jumping into their friendship from where it did. That might be because their playfulness is pretty similar to my own, so it made sense to me.
It was a bit predictable in a few ways - though I didn't mind it all that much. I'd say what I did mind was that Ettian was just a LITTLE too enamored with Gal to the point that it was slightly nauseating and a little unbelievable. The war had not been that long ago, Ettian lived through it, and I can't quite believe that his thoughts go so quickly back to Gal and Umber before his own homeland.
And while Gal is a nice guy, he prioritizes his needs above Ettian's, so it's hard to really understand why Ettian is so 'blinded by love'. We see a little bit more strength of character toward the end, but that obsession is still clouding it.
I'm excited to see where it goes from here and hope that the characters grow. No problems with the writing style nor the secondary characters here. It was a breath of fresh air after being utterly disappointed by the writing and plot of the The Fever King.

This turned out to be what I had hoped Wonders of the Invisible World might be, but it actually delivered. Really enjoyed the grittiness of this, but definitely need to do a re-read. Also kinda hoping for a sequel, NGL
This story is insane because the world is pretty much nuts from the get-go. Even just outside of the fact that these kids are being hunted and malnourished, they are also completely unsupervised and somehow are still having classes and learning things which made little sense to me. Strangely, I still found the atmosphere the most interesting part of it even though I didn't find it very realistic.
Characterization-wise, I wasn't blown away. The main character was typical broody and the 'love interest' was aloof sunshine boy who doesn't really get any sort of interesting until the second book. Still, the chaotic nature of it kept me reading on to part two.

This really blew me away. I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did, staying up until 3am to finish it all the way. All the characters were so rich and interesting and touched my heart in different ways. It had me laughing and scratching my head, wondering if I knew what was going on or not. A bit of a mystery, even though there wasn't really a crime that had occurred, which makes it even more interesting of a story.
I know a lot of people really hate this style of storytelling, but I loved it. Something about getting those little crumbs of new information and then falling back to see how it fits into the narrative correctly and how you think you've got the right info but actually it's wrong... ugh, it just makes for amazing writing.
And such a great space for addressing relationships in different stages and working on yourself, dealing with mental health, how lost you can get when things spin out of control and the mistakes people can make that can wholly change the trajectory of one's life. *chef's kiss*
I listened to the audiobook, which was absolutely delightful and I would recommend it to everyone.

This one was really cute! I loved the art, of course, as we know Wendy Xu is a great artist already (having read Tidesong first). I can see some of the similarities in how Wendy depicted magic in this story and in Tidesong as well.
I'm a big sucker for werewolves, but this is the first time that I've really seen the concept of a werewolf having its own sort of magic. We all know the concept of shapeshifters is kind of inherently magic, sort of, but not really in the way that witches are. But this gives a different sort of spin on that in that wolves have their own brand of magic that's different from witch magic which I thought was a cool concept!
The plot wasn't anything out of this world, but still good and for a one volume graphic novel the romance was as quick as to be expected. I liked most of the characters, though the bad guys were pretty one-note.

This isn't really a space book. It's mostly a character study of these astronauts and their families. Which wasn't terrible, but it wasn't really great either. I did find a lot of the characters interesting, though, so I did wind up finishing it.
