5⭐️ more than just fish mpreg! | tropes: transmigration, hidden identity, mute mmc| digital
Overall Thoughts 💭:
I have hesitated to read this novel because of the insane title, but I'm in a weird reading mood right now and need something fun and light-hearted to enjoy! Li Yu was transmigrated into a webnovel as a fish and I loved how his character is written to take this seriously in the funniest ways. Prince Jing / Mu Tianchi is a mute fifth prince of the emperor born mute. I love how obsessed he is with Li Yu and how many times he almost makes the connection but just falls back into "omg i love my fish!!". This made the later reveal and development from there much sweeter. I like that it was established that Prince Jing, as the protagonist, will become emperor no matter what. It took a lot of stress out of thinking about future missions knowing that he'll be safe. I liked that the politics and scheming were simple and relatively low stakes. The second brother Mu Tianzhao, having his plots defeated and so much personal beef with a fish was hilarious. I can't wait to read the sequel asap!

4⭐️ slow burn that really worked | tropes: slow burn, Muscian mmc, Black mcs| medium steam | digital
Overall Thoughts 💭:
I was excited to read this because I loved 'Take a Chance' and have been craving more! I loved Laila! I liked her journey throughout this book and how she maintained her boundaries. She struggled with some avoidant attachment, which I relate to a lot. I liked Sonny / Bryce as well! He was so charming and sweet and the best MMC you could want. I loved the slow burn between Laila and Bryce. The meet-cutes, the friendship, and then romantic development! It was everything. Bryce took the time to get to know her and meet her where she was; I adored that. I loved the One Tree Hill references! I love that messy show! My only dislike is the ending was a bit rushed and clunky. I struggled thinking about its purpose and how it was so quickly wrapped up.

3⭐️ Religious Rollercoaster | tropes: obsessive love, catholic , demons | high steam | digital
Overall Thoughts 💭:
Aurélien Saint-Orlant, which is cunty name, is a second son of lord dealing with terrible dreams and sleepwalking and an obsession with Father Celio, I didn't remember what the book was about (I requested it from the library and it was finally my turn) but I was pleasantly surprised at the turn it took. A lot of the time I (like the main character) was confused with what was going on and didn't know where the plot was going to end up. It was fun overall, but I felt like something was missing. The concepts were all there with some interesting world-building around demons and help,l but it didn't grip me.

3⭐️ the beef was real and angsty! | tropes: black fmcs, friends to rivals to lovers, angst, sports romance | digital
Overall Thoughts 💭:
This book surprised me with the depth and care that went into growing these characters and their connection. Mari and Taylor were childhood best friends from different economic backgrounds dealing with their familial issues, later using track/cross country as a way to deal with those issues. It was easy to feel empathetic towards Mari. She is a parent-fifed child balancing work, school, track, and watching her younger siblings. Though she made mistakes, I understood and loved her character. I understood Taylor, she's dealing with a lot of insecurities and her father's illness, but I struggled to empathize with her character at times because of how she projected and lashed out at others. Her character development in the later half of the book was satisfying and I liked the direction the book went with that. The pacing of this book was frustrating at times. They had a lot of hurdles to jump through and there was a lot of push and pull. The romance aspect was very slow burn and the tone was more angsty than I imagined it being.

DNF 24% — NOOOOOO
Overall Thoughts 💭:
The beginning of this book was chaotic and insane. We go from subsaharan Africa, to an alien spacecraft, to a planet with long extinct dinosaurs and foliage from different millennia's. I love alien romances and I enjoyed the Mead Mishaps series so I was excited to start reading this!
I struggled getting into this book I started with the digital arc and then I moved to a audiobook arc and while I would manage to get through more of the book with the audio arc, it took so long for me to finally get to that moment where I understood what was going on and also cared what was going on.
I also hoped for more relationship development but from the moment the nano-insta love thing was explained I was a bit overwhelmed and over it.

4⭐️ this was such a cute and touching book!! | tropes: trans mmc, forced proximity, second chance | digital
Overall Thoughts 💭:
Charlie is an awkward anxious academic which I related to. I felt bad about all the pressure he was under from his scholarship and having to fit into a new school. Jasper is a lot in the best and worst way. He was so overwhelmingly friendly to Charlie which I liked because I thought this would be a rivalry situation (it made sense later why he was so nice) and I enjoyed his character. I did struggle at times because as an introvert I felt bad for Charlie as he was very irritated with Jasper's behavior at times but as someone who is seen as too much at times I related to him as well. I loved seeing Charlie and Jasper grow closer and begin to understand each other as they dealt with the hijinks and ups and downs of their secret club (albeit unwillingly on Charlie's end). The side characters shined in this book, and I also grew to love them. Especially Blaze! There was a twist that I didn't see coming at all! I liked that the conflict happened sooner than I thought it would.

4⭐️ a sweet love story with fun fae lore | tropes: fated mates, forced proximity | high steam | digital
Overall Thoughts 💭:
I hadn't read any of the other books in the series, but the book does a great job of quickly telling readers everything they need to know without over-explaining. I do think that reading the other books might improve the payoff of some of the plot points that appear in this book though. Wranth is down so bad it's crazy and i love it. And I loved Naomi's character! I love books with plus-sized fmc's who know they're sexy and beautiful!! Naomi and Wranth's journey was well-paced, you get to see them slowly understand and love each other as they go through a crazy journey through these dimensions!
