Highlights:
I haven't read previous books in this series but I'm jumping in because it is one of the books on my diverse monster romance list! From the moment Geva and Rathgarr met I knew I was going to like this book. Their chemistry was insane and it only got better. The tension between them was so high! I love fake-dating trope and their banter.
Lowlights:
I hated how much Geva was basically begging and appeasing Rathgarr constantly. Even when she's standing up for herself she's still coddling him and his hot and cold emotions. Even when she's in the right she feels she's in the wrong somehow. It was so frustrating. There also was not nearly enough groveling for me. I love an "I'm sorry. I was wrong." but paired with an immediate reconciliation even before the apology is crazy. Like, have some pride and self-worth.

I received this title as an ARC in exchange for a honest review. Thank you Mary Warren for the copy!
The Good
I really loved Abe and Julie's dynamic. Abe was just so sweet and protective yet grumpy and that's one of my favorite male archetypes. I enjoyed Julie's character as well and really felt for her. I felt like her trauma and deconstruction was written really well and done with care. I cannot explain how much I loved the romance in this. It was so sweet and gentle. It made me smile and giggle. Pure teeth-rotting goodness.
The Bad
While I did enjoy Bridget's character, I kinda wish Julie and Abe's connection and Julie's magic was built up to more independently of Bridget's involvement. It felt very abrupt for her to be like "hey you guys are soulmates and you have magic!" all through exposition in one scene. I still enjoyed Julie and Abe's relationship and the paranormal aspect but I felt like that scene was strange.

I loved Max and Targan! I really like introvert x extrovert couples and their development was very sweet. I also really like how this book handled grief, especially in children. The small town of Mystic Hollow was such a cute and cozy setting.

I'm so hyped for an alien romance series where EVERYONE IS BLACK! Estelle and Abrax were sweet. There were some nice conversations between them as they grew to like and understand each other. There was some interesting world-building as there was politics involved and a disease that wiped out all the women on the planet.
Lowlights:
I'll be honest and just say I did not like this book. The insta-lust was very evident even for side characters and done in an illogical way. Estelle I understood had a growing connection with Abrax but Zora? I thought there was going to be a fated mates type explanation for her behavior but she was literally just horny. It also would've made the women getting paired up with random alien men less forceful in my eyes. They got kidnapped and essentially paired off to strangers without any choice. Plus I didn't understand how less than a dozen women were going to repopulate an entire race of people. Side-note: I hated the "ancient aliens" connection to Egypt. I get some people don't understand it's based in white supremacy but it still is. Every non-european advanced ancient civilization is theorized to have been helped by aliens while civilizations at the same time such as the Romans are never theorized like this. It's one of those things that seem incoxus but aren't.

Starting with an Anne Rice quote really set the tone for this novel. Hamilton H. Hamilton is an insane character name but I got used to it. This book was both instant-love and slow burn in a very interesting way. I'm happy about the amount of development the relationship between Hamilton and Demiesius got. I also enjoyed the world-building elements surrounding the vampires and slayers. There are a lot of complaints about editing/writing that deterred me from reading this book for a while but I didn't find any problems with it. (I was analyzing it that much thought, I was honestly just vibing.)
Lowlights:
My issue with this book is that first, I wanted to know more about Hamilton and what made him so special. We hear some things about his upbringing, but that paired with his mysterious ability to get pregnant I was expecting an answer but we never got it. I also don't like cliffhangers in romance books, especially series that focus on different couples. The ending was very unsatisfactory and I hope reading the next book resolves the big plotline of this book quickly.

SEQUEL TIME! I really enjoyed the plot and world-building of the last book and was excited to see it develop more. Kethan and Ivy's relationship became even stronger in this book. I liked how their communication improved and they really supported each other. I was nervous about the introduction of new human characters but I liked them. (excluding Cole obviously)
Lowlights:
Ahnset... I hope there is no attempt in the next book to redeem her because she doesn't deserve it. She absolutely knew what was going to happen and even if Kethan tried to frame her as "seeing the light" in things or whatever it's pure delusion. She didn't have any issue with the Queen forcing herself on her brother so I don't know why I expected better from her. I wish this book had a greater since of urgency. I understand plot wise why things were more slow moving but I think this book had a plot more filler.

Trying out new orc series is always a hit or miss for me and this one was a miss! This was very steamy and fast paced but the romance between the characters was lacking. If there was a fated mates element that could explain their love for each other I could maybe let it pass but there wasn't so I was confused why she loved him. Just having a character be attracted to each other is not enough for the "I love you" to feel earned.

I picked up this book as part of my diverse monster romance spreedsheet! I really liked both Miranda and Drak. Miranda has intense oldest sister syndrome and loves to care for others but Drak is the one who takes care of her. I love the language barrier trope and this one reminded me why I prefer alien books before they have a translation chip or whatever the equivalent is in their series. This is my first book in this series and I liked this version of fates mates with the tattoo on the wrist.
Lowlights:
Miranda got dickmatized in the second half of this book which made it much less enjoyable or interesting. She no longer could make logical decisions and was hyper reactive to everything, even when it wasn't necessary. I hate when this happens to good main characters in books like this.

I absolutely loved 'Tentacles and Triathlons' so I needed to read this one immediately!
The Good
The meet-cute between Teagan and Atlas was so good. I liked how they really went all in with each other. I'm also glad that Reece was retconned into a park ranger in the next book. His personality was way worse in this book. I liked the conversations around boy image and how badly relationship partners can harm them and use them against you. Atlas trying to let go of his own negative self-image was nice to see.
The Bad
I hate to compare books but this one is lacking the character development that made the romance in the previous book so good. This one was straight to the banging. These is a scene with frosting and all I could think about is how bad her UTI is about to be.
Tropes:
— Fated Mates
— Plus sized fmc

They’ve summoned a dark goddess and I’ll willingly be sacrificed if it means I can stay in her presence...
I saw this book review by a mutual of mine over on tiktok and immediately went to preorder it!
A nerdy witch and private detective Shane finally finds himself a coven to join. Unfortunately for him, they're a sex cult planning to summon a demon at his first meeting. Elle, the sucubius they summoned, is more annoyed at the summoning that's taken her away from her shift at the strip club than willing to fulfill their lame desires, is intrigued by the lanky man who frees her from his companions spell.
The Good
I'm so glad I decided to read this book! I loved both Elle and Shane. They both had their own insecurities about relationships but really loved and cared for each other and worked to help each other feel confident and loved. I'm realizing how much more I prefer nice cinnamon roll type love interests like Shane! Especially when paired with someone as confident like Elle. I willEven though this book was short, I felt like there was a good amount of relationship and character development that made me really love and root for the main characters. There's also so many good conversations at consent, virginity, and sex work. All handled well and done in a natural way.
Tropes:
— Soft femdom
— Opposites Attract
— Praise Kink
