Oh what a sweet, sweet book. A must read for everyone, especially if you work with kids. Journeying with Melissa as she becomes her true self instead of George (and the use of Charlotte’s Web along the way!) is equal parts magical, heartbreaking, and hopeful. I am so thankful that a book exists where kids can read about identity with a positive message and representation of the trans community. It’s so important to support kids in their formative years, and to give them the space to come into their own. As an adult, this is a quick one day read but has a much deeper message and provides food for thought. Thank you Alex Gino for writing George!

I really wanted to like this book... and I did love the content. There are absolutely important messages, and it’s good to read from different viewpoints, authors, and styles. But I just personally couldn’t get into the style. It was confusing and I had a hard time following some of the prose.

Ooof. This book. Where to even begin? It's breathtakingly honest. Heartbreaking. Visceral. This memoir is well written. It's hard to read. It makes you think. As someone who grew up in North Carolina and lived in both Winston-Salem and Hickory, it really made me think about life in the south. Especially in regards to segregation and interracial relationships. It also illustrates how love is taught. The ending of this book takes place after I was already born and living there, which really makes me pause to reflect. I'm grateful this book caught my eye and I would recommend reading!

I really, really wanted to love this book... Gigi Engle is so funny and bold and empowering. I’ve loved her articles and appearances on podcasts... But this book just fell flat. Parts were funny. Parts were real. But other parts felt preachy. While I appreciate the bluntness, parts felt put in for shock factor. However, I admire Gigi’s vulnerability. It’s an easy read.

Every bit as laugh out loud funny, yet painfully real and thought provoking, as Shrill. You can always count on Lindy West to tell it like it is and call us all out on our bs. A great read not only to be a better, more understand human being, but also for gearing up for the 2020 election.

This book was beyond funny (not to mention beautiful looking!) As someone in their mid-twenties who does not have her shit together, I appreciated the advise and humor that this book provided. A must have coffee table style book that actually has a lot of content to it!

Michael Eric Dyson writes with poetic brilliance and unapologetic frankness. This book was amazing, challenging, painful, beautiful, and hard to put down. I highly recommend reading.

If there’s one thing I love it’s good old make you giggle and smile and curl your toes YA novel romance. I flew through this book in less than 24 hours. And will absolutely be picking up the second book ASAP. The characters are endearing and the fact that it’s also a thriller is just icing on the cake. An easy, fun read that reminds me why I become head over heels engrossed in reading and the lives of characters that feels as if I know them. If you’re looking for fun fiction, look no further! Plus who can pass up total Breakfast Club vibes?
