I really enjoyed A Darker Shade of Magic! The world-building was great. The characters are interesting. I am very curious about how this trilogy will go!

Reread this book in preparation for Bloodmarked. And it is such a GOOD BOOK! Really recommend it if you love YA urban fantasy.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with the ARC of Into the Riverlands.
Cleric Chic wanders into the riverlands to record tales of the notorious near-immortal martial artists who haunt the region. On the road to Betony Docks, they fall in with a pair of young women far from home, and an older couple who are more than they seem. As Chih runs headlong into an ancient feud, they find themselves far more entangled in the history of the riverlands than they ever expected to be.
I have enjoyed this book in the Singing Hills Cycle the best so far. The companions Chic meets in this book are very interesting as well as the notorious martial artists. I listened to the first two as audiobook but I think I should read the fourth the fifth books because I feel like the audiobook goes too quickly to fully enjoy this series since they are so short.

I loved this second part of the Monk and Robot duology. I loved the vibes, the writing and the relationship between Sibling Dex and Moscap.

Very enjoyable Hawkeye comic starring Clint and Kate. I bought this to read before the MCU show but ended up ready it after. Depending on the number of volumes I might read more of this one.
Dit boek was niet voor mij. Ik vond het saai en de strijd die ik verwachtte, gebeurt pas in boek 2! Erg teleurstellend en ik weet daarom ook niet of ik deze serie wil uitlezen.
slow-paced
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC of The Atlas Paradox. Unfortunately, I was not sucked into this book as much as the first one. I enjoyed The Atlas Six enough to be interested in the second one. I also thought this was the last one so that expectation might also have influenced my feelings towards this sequel. Because I was expecting an ending of a series and not of a second installment in a trilogy. So, unfortunately I only thought this was an okay book.
fast-paced
The first 75% is highly enjoyable but the SA scene is awful. It is not descriptive but Daphne really should not have done that to the person she claims she loves. But the story glossed over it and did not address it well. Very unfortunate.

Upfront: I read Foul Lady Fortune before having read Gong's These Violent Delights duology. There are some spoilers of TVD but since it is a Romeo & Juliet retelling some spoilers were not as surprising. I did not mind it.
In Foul Lady Fortune, Rosalind is put on an espionage mission. Only for this mission she has to work together with Orion. They are to infiltrate a Japanese newspaper. Oh, and they have to get married so that their cover as newlyweds works. (Fun!) There are killings all over Shanghai and it is up to Rosalind and Orion to figure out the mystery.
I enjoyed Foul Lady Fortune and especially the character dynamics of Rosalind and Orion as well as the espionage elements. Unfortunately, I was not as intrigued as I thought I would be. But luckily, listening to the audiobook while reading along made for a good reading experience. The setting of 1930s Shanghai was very interesting for me as I know very little of Shanghai during that time period. I really enjoyed the setting. Having read this book makes me excited for the These Violent Delights duology!

Loveable characters:

I adored A Psalm for the Wild-Built. It reads like an ode to nature. Sibling Dex's journey to purpose is also very relatable. Lots of people do not know their purpose, and that is okay. Mosscap is a sweetheart. I got Baymax vibes from him which I loved.
Centuries ago, on the moon Panga, robots left the factories and wandered into the wild, never to be seen again. Robots faded into myth. Sibling Dex changes their vocation to tea monk. They visit villages, listen to the villagers and are on their way again. Still, they feel like something is missing... So they decide to wander into the wild.
I highly recommend this novella.
