I really wanted to love this comic. The premise is like a morally bankrupt version of X-men, just with telepaths instead of mutants, and the art is the kind of sumptuously detailed eye candy I expect from Image titles. But the plot meandered and stalled, with philosophical monologues that felt nigh pointless and an ending that, well, happened. Maybe it develops in subsequent volumes, but this one fell flat for me.

Sometimes you just really need something adorable and Star Wars-y. Everything Jeffrey Brown does gives me all kinds of mushy feelings, and this, with its mixture of cute kid stuff and nostalgia, is no exception.

I gave volume 1 of Lady Killer three stars because while I love the concept and am intrigued by the characters, I wanted so much more, and the ending felt abrupt. I wish there were more setup, because I'm craving back story. What organization is Josie working for? Why are they killing these people? What's her history with Peck? How did she get started? What's going on with Mother Schuller? Why did we have to get rid of Ruby, omg? I need answers!
