I can't really say I got the all plot and murderer and motives, BUT I loved Nero Wolfe (my first) and I adored Archie Goodwin (totally), so that's a pretty good read! ❤️

This is not the dystopian I expected, having read some. The point is not how earth is in the aftermath, but more what it was before, what everyone takes for granted, instead of actually miraculous, as I saw lots of things through this book. It's pretty nostalgic on many levels. Well written, well paced. Very pleasant

WOOOW
I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK

The writing is of course a 4 stars, 5 even, so I'm still quite not sure if overall is a 3 or 4, but it doesnt matter much.
Thing is: the imagery is amazing, i'm still in awe by what this man can see, not only in terms of future, but in insights, of a man near death, of a man who can't really grow up, of people without roots or family, of this society, empty. But this novel looks so cold to me. every sentence is so perfect it's like polished, and you can see its brilliance, DeLillo's brilliance everywhere, but i couldn't quite feel attached to these characters. I'm miles away from what I felt for Underworld's Nick, just to name one.
On the other hand, the obsession for language is so well displayed here, you can't help but love it, unconditionally. so i guess this is like a novel you can adore from a distance. No attachments included.

I feel bad to give it only 3 stars, so let's go for 4 (it would have been a 3 and a half). Good book, good story, but not nearly the masterpiece i thought it was.

what an honest, raw and impressive and thoughtful read.
