This book was okay. It took me longer to read than most books, so I wouldn't necessarily say it's a page turner. I also felt like the ending was incredibly rushed. It was all action and then a couple pages and done.

Simply a spectacular book. A must read.

I loved loved loved this book. Amazing storyteller, queer representation, honest and emotional writing. Seriously beautiful and rich and emotive.

Great book. Ekwuyasi is a gorgeous writer. The characters felt vivid and warm. I also love books with queer characters.

Probably more of a 3.5. This is a fairly quick read, and while interesting, sometimes it felt like it was skimming the surface. I really enjoyed the second half of the book, and the part when Samra attended an inclusive mosque.

I'm torn about this book. I definitely think this topic needs more air time, certainly; that said, this book did nothing for me. I found myself wanting to feel moved, or wanting to appreciate the book, because of the many positive reviews, but in the end, I just didn't enjoy this book.
