What happens to the people that are being pushed out of their neighborhoods due to gentrification? Who stands up for the forgotten? A book woven in conspiracy theories, one after the other that had me on the edge of my seat! A solid thriller read!

This book spans one year, from 2019-2020 and addresses all the things that happened in such a short time that still resonate today. Watching the pandemic unfold on the page, the feeling of unrest after the murder of George Floyd, and also a ghost in a bookstore whose haunting is growing increasing more violent, it hit a lot of feels. I was enthralled with Tookie and her journey with in relation with books and her life. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

This book had such a cute premise but I had trouble getting into the story. I felt the grumpy/sunshine aspect was really forced and was entirely hinged on the MC’s bad assumptions. Then the plot was very rushed and didn’t flow very well for me. The romance didn’t hit it for me.
