It wasn’t one of my favourites for Debbie Macomber. There wasn’t much action. I didn’t really feel there was much emphasis on Hope’s character improvements, how she faired better. The spotlight was more on Cade and how the year helped him to became a better person. And their relationship definitely wasn’t the focus. Not much of a love story.
I had not read the previous two books from this series, it isn’t needed as it can be a standalone, and likely won’t.

At first I was very into this story. I loved Nellie and reading about her life and learning how difficult it was to be a wife in the ‘50s. I liked Alice too but as I progressed through her life I grew to not like her decisions very much. So many unnecessary lies that just kept getting worse and worse. When I came to the end I didn’t realize I was there. It just felt undone.
This is the first book I’ve read from this author but I’m going to check out her other stories.

Another great story by Mariah Stewart! The only thing is I wish there had been more on the romance between Emma and Owen. Being 55 myself, I love that this series is about women over 50 as there is not enough of this. I hope that there is more of these ladies, or others their age, in books to come but I’m thinking the next will be focusing on Grace. I do hope Maggie, Liddy and Emma are kept current in that one.

I LOVED this book! I loved that I had tears at times (real ones!) and other times I was laughing. I loved how the relationship between the sister and mom grew to something so much stronger then ever before. I loved how the characters grew to be stronger individuals as well. I loved so many of the words and thoughts that they each had and made a few highlights to read again later. And loved that there were a few surprises that I didn’t see coming. I even loved that the focus of the book was not the romance between Leigh and Colton. And of course, I loved Elvis

Not my kind of book. I only read it because it’s the selection for a book club I belong to. It was different kind of writing, the time line jumped back and forward and all around too frequently, the last chapter was weird and felt like it was just written to finish everything up, kind of like a summary.
I’m glad I’m done!

Read this as a chosen book for book club. It wasn't what I thought it would be but it was good. It was an easy read, not quite as in-depth as it could have been. Their high school friend died yet they spent way more time focusing on the actual events of the road trip. There was not a lot of reminiscing or grieving happening. It was immature at times (trashing a car?) and unrealistic (happening upon a bus-load of male strippers and hitching a ride?); although, there were also moments that I thought the characters were portrayed as older then they were introduced as (39 is premenopausal?).
This is a good book for a "beach read".

A cute, easy to read story with a few surprises along the way. It definitely would make a perfect Hallmark Christmas movie! I very much enjoyed it!

It was a good read, not great, but good. I wasn't sure if I liked either of the main characters though. There were times that I was thinking I wouldn't like these ladies if I meant them IRL. Their opinions of people who work in construction (like plumbing) and restaurant workers came across as they thought themselves as better. That these kind of jobs were beneath them and that really turned me off to them. Also, Jenna had a really bad habit of jumping to her own conclusion and not listening to what the other person was thinking, or feeling. Actually I think Maureen did too.

My favourite quote was in the epilogue:
"When we found her, she'd had this wonderful look of contentment on her face. In my heart, I knew the happy look on her face happened in the short space between life and death when she first saw my father. The instant she'd recognized him, she was complete again, and he'd reached across time and eternity to draw her close."
