Wildflower is my very first adult audiobook and I loved it. I enjoyed listening to Drew Barrymore read her book to me! If a different person had been the narrator, one not attached to the memories, the feeling of the book would have been so much different. Hearing the emotion in her voice, whether angry, proud, sad, happy really added a lot to this memoir.
I found this book to be filled with reflection and life lessons in a series of thoughtful, and sometimes funny, stories from various points in her life. I even found that sometimes what I listened to had me in full blown tears. The stories range from when she lived on her own to when she had a child of her own. From when she was a child star to when she was producing her own movies. And everything in between.
The reader learns much about Drew and I began to see, as I listened to her recount the experiences of her earlier life, how she grew to become the genuine person who speaks kindly and has lots to say and share, and I want to hear it.
It does have the occasional swearing in it which doesn't bother me but I know it does others. I don't think it ruins the rest of the book though. In some examples, the stronger words are well placed. It is easy to just read a story or two once in a while. Or read all at once. I believe that there is something everyone can take away from this book and recommend it!

My rating... I gave four stars only because in some examples the stories when on for just a bit too long. If half stars were allowed I would have given it 4.5 stars for sure!

Definitely a book you want to listen to so you have the full effect of Rick Mercer! I enjoyed listening to his rants again. I didn’t realize how much I miss watching his reports on tv!

I have never read a Lisa Unger book before but I've heard lots of good things about her stories. I was looking forward to reading this and it did not disappoint. The plot was really dark and disturbing. A can't help but turn the page book! I was sucked in right from the start and had to know how things go for Poppy and what happened to her husband, Jack. The ending was brilliant and did not disappoint!! Great writing!
