This book was somewhere between “meh” and “okay”. Not one of Robyn Carr’s best books. I was disappointed because this didn’t read like a book written by Robyn. It was almost amateur, like it was her first book.
Not much happened. It was a book mostly about feelings, no action. There was lots of writing about some plot parts and then not enough for others. The scenes with Addie and Ross conversations were long and repetitive and I skipped these pages. But the romance between Addie and Jake could have come sooner and been more detailed, more exciting.
I started out the book not liking Justine and liking Addie more. Then I switched. The story-line for Justine was way better then Addie’s but neither was exciting.
Anyway... I found myself reading the book just to know the ending.
I hope Robyn’s next book is back at the level of the Virgin River series. This one was not.

As I wrote in update a month ago.... “This one is a bit hard to “get into”. It seems not real. Who leaves their embryos to a friend without talking about it with them first.

The 3 stars are for the story, the writing and the plot twist. There would’ve been more stars if the last chapter had come up with some explanation to what really happened. I kept expecting to get the answers but they never came. I do believe in magic but not this makes no sense. I was disappointed when I flipped the page and found it was done.

It was an easy read but not as christmas-y as the beautiful cover makes it look. There was more Thanksgiving then Christmas. There also wasn’t very much actual romance to this story or any romance mixed with a Christmas-y feel which was disappointing.

The ending of the story moved reeeally fast. There should’ve been more to it. The time between Christmas Eve morning and Christmas Day morning had a lot of things happen... A proposal, a ring was bought that actually fit Wynn’s finger, Garrick had asked for Hunter’s permission, wedding date decided, honeymoon details, where Hunter would stay while honeymooning, decisions on what to do with the current houses, shopping for houses online, appointment with mortgage broker set, etc, etc, etc. These last couple of pages were awful. Nothing like this happens in 24 hours, especially at Christmas!

This was the first Happily Inc book I read, which I picked because it was new and it’s Christmas themed, but I don’t think I’ll bother with the others.
