An enjoyable easy read with a good ending, although rushed considering how much time was taken for the rest of the story.
Unfortunately even though it’s pegged as a romance there was not any obvious romance in the book. Not even a kiss 🙄
I feel the few references to “god” did not fit the story because of how infrequent it was used. There was no inclusion of church or beliefs besides the “talking to god”. It was like this was just added in so the “christian” genre label could be applied. I was unaware of this label until I posted that I was currently reading this book. I would never have chosen this book if I had known that, unfortunately.
Also the addition of Ginny’s little sister’s conversation at the beginning and then only referring to her a couple of times later was noticeable. Why have the conversation at the beginning if she was not going to be included the rest of the time?

I was drawn to this book because of the cover and title and my love of book clubs but the actual book club part of this story is a very minor part, unfortunately.
The story line became very repetitious. It was like the author was having difficulty with finding other ideas to add to the plot. I found it hard to keep with reading. I did not need to be reminded about Libby's grandmother leaving her alone. And that her issues with trust were attached. The inherited box for Libby was mentioned way too much. I found myself thinking just open the darn thing! I got it that Ben came had money and did not need to be told so frequently.
It could be a quick and easy read about small town friendships and living but I became frustrated with the repetition and dnf'd the book. Maybe if I could have connected with at least one of the characters I could have continued the story but that didn't happen either. I am giving it 2 stars even though I chose to stop reading. I really wish I could have continued because I love so many of the author's other books.
Thank you for the opportunity!

Another great book by Susan Mallery! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and was disappointed when it came to an end.
This is a great example of women supporting women, no matter of age, social standing or family connections. It also shows that family can come in any form. Marriage and blood do not define this.
I loved Erica right from the start although I don't believe I would have been able to do what she did. But maybe I could? I was not too sure about Allison but she definitely grew on me as she became stronger and her character was more defined.
I laughed at the humour that was also included through the story. Both Allison and Erica had funny moments that were enjoyable.
The only thing that kept me from giving a full 5 stars was that it took until halfway through the book before we learned who Levi was and why there was no mention of Allison's family. That was two topics that did not make sense to me to not have mentioned earlier in the story.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade for the opportunity to read this ARC. I was so pleased to do so and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this kind of book!

I didn't dislike this book but it was just an okay feeling for me. I loved the idea of the three generation sleuthing team but at times this story dragged on. There were details that were not necessary but were included such as the land trust details.
The positives... this is a great new way to write a cozy mystery. Cozy mysteries are not usually my thing but it was a nice surprise. The relationship between grandmother-mother-daughter was enjoyable and seeing their relationships growing stronger getting past old history added depth to the characters.

Another great book by MKA! I’m already missing the Saint and the “good” people! I grew very attached to them!
This is a perfect beach read for those that are looking for a bit more mystery as well. I really thought I had it all figured out and then found out I didn’t. The little bit of romance also included was the perfect amount for the right people. And of course there were also those characters that I just could not stand and was happy they got what was coming to them 🙂
I definitely would recommend this book! Don’t take the word of those that rate it low. Read it and make your own decision.
Thanks NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this ARC.
