I usually don’t write reviews, but this book amazed me. I’m the type of person that looks down on books less than 400 pages. “How could you complete a well written story in only a couple hundred pages?” Well this book with less than 200 pages blew me away. It managed to go through several different characters POV’s and several different timelines without confusing me in the slightest. The writing in this book was so phenomenal that I’ve already named Jacqueline Woodson one of my favorite writers, solely on this book alone. This is the most beautiful book I’ve ever read. 10/10 stars.
I LOVED this book! As a person with chronic pain, I thought the representation of what it feels like and how much your life changes as you learn to live life a new way was completely accurate. I related to Chloe Brown so much and fell in love with Red! It was a little less wholesome than I thought (lol), but their connection was perfect. Chloe and Red are my relationship goals. I can’t wait to read Take a Hint, Dani Brown, but there is no way that I can love it more than this!
This book was almost perfect, I only had two problems:
1. I did not like the main character. Samantha just annoyed me so much. It made the chapters that were solely about her hard for me to enjoy.
2. The end left something to be desired for me. I don’t really know what I expected, maybe more of a fight, but I just wanted more.
But overall the book was amazing. I loved it. It was so different. 9/10
“Such a weird book but like, in the best way Bunny :)”

I loved this book! I loved seeing us Black women and girls shown from so many great perspectives. We have the warrior woman, the introverted “nerd”, the leader, the seductress, the soft spoken woman. We house so much complexity and I loved the representation of it in this book! The only reason this wasn’t quite a 5 star read for me is because there were a few stories that just weren’t for me. But I thoroughly enjoyed this! 4.5 stars.
