I’m officially hooked. The tension in this book was off the charts and so was the dark chemistry between Rory and Angelo. The bird word thing was annoying, but as the story went on, I got used to it. The church scene and the scene at the Halloween party? TOP TIER! This book technically ends on a cliffhanger, but just about everything is wrapped up. It just means we know some of the stuff to expect in book two.

Only thing I didn’t enjoy were the reminders that Alberto was disgusting and how that was tied to his weight. That man was horrible and disgusting all on his own, so making his weight part of the punchline was unnecessary.  The “villain is unattractive and disgusting especially because he’s fat” thing is played out. Can we let it go?

This was so good! Keanu is just overwhelming in the best ways. I loved how he loved Lyric and how she loved them right back. The mutual pining was definitely strong. Their story was a beautiful one, though not always easy. I understood why Lyric was hesitant because she went through a very serious trauma (off page, but mentioned here and in Luca), but at the same time her fears/concerns seemed a little repetitive. I think what really would have helped me understand that more would have been actually seeing the therapy that she mentioned at one point or at least seeing her continue therapy. It felt like she said she went, but didn’t really learn from it. There was also a weird moment about between Keanu and his cousin that I side-eyed and seemed unnecessary, but overall a great read.

These two are so nasty!!! But I love it lol. Also, if cheating (no matter how brief) is an issue with you, be cautious going into this because they do get together while she’s technically entertaining another man. It didn’t bother me and I actually loved it because I’m messy (lol) but I know some people get upset about that.

CW: mentions of domestic violence, on-page miscarriage

I’ll be the first one to say I’m not a historical fiction girlie, but I absolutely loved this book. Spring was a woman after my own heart and the fact that she never changed herself or ideals, not even once she fell in love, is something I appreciated so much. Her trauma wasn’t taken lightly and it may have shaped who she was, but she was an amazing person through and through. Garrett was a goner from the very beginning and the chemistry jumped off the page. I’m also hoping we’ll get to see his sister out on her own soon!

Everything about this book was on point: the characters, the banter, the sex scenes, the narration (because I listened to the audiobook), the Justice, the friendship, the ending, ALL OF IT! I literally have zero complaints (other than it would’ve been nice to see Dean physically get dragged lol)

Great read. Because it moves so quickly, it does feel like some character development or plot points are missing. I think I would’ve liked less detail in the beginning and more world/lore building surrounding the house and bloodmaids, but all in all it was a good!
