What a fun and unique read! I highly recommend this book especially if you love murder mysteries!
“The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle” by Stuart Turton tells the story of Aiden Bishop who needs to solve who murdered Evelyn Hardcastle the only problem is he keeps waking up in someone else’s body! He will keep relieving the day in another “host” until he solves the murder, but he only has 8 hosts to do it in. Luckily he remembers the knowledge he gains in each host when he wakes up in the next host. Plus he has the help of a mysterious girl named Anna and a plague doctor pushing him in the right direction.
I picked this book for my monthly book club, and I’m really glad that I did. This was such a fun read and totally unique to anything I’ve read in the past. Stuart Turton does a great job of developing each character and although Aiden is in different hosts throughout the book I didn’t find it confusing. I actually found it very easy to follow. Once I really got into it, I didn’t want to put it down so I not only read the hardcover, but listened on Audible as well during my commute to and from work.
One thing I love in a mystery is not being able to figure it out, and this one kept me guessing the entire time. I did not know who-dun-it until they revealed who it was. That’s what makes a great murder mystery.
If you’re looking for something entertaining to read with some twists and turns than this is the book for you!

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan tells the story of Rachel Chu and her boyfriend Nicholas Young as they head to Singapore for the summer to attend his friend’s wedding and meet his family. Rachel and Nick live in New York City and are both professors at NYU. They live a normal life so Rachel has no idea what she’s about to get herself into when agreeing to go to Singapore for summer vacation. Upon arriving, Rachel soon realizes that Nick hasn’t told her everything about his family or his past. She finds out that he comes from a very wealthy family, and that he happens to be the country’s most eligible bachelor. Can their relationship withstand his nosy family and scheming social climbing friends?
I had a hard time getting into this book. Part 1 was a slow read for me maybe because I’d already seen the movie prior to reading the book. I almost gave up which I never do, but thankfully I powered through, and the book definitely picked up once Part 2 started. I loved the movie when I saw it, and I loved the book as well. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because the first part moved slowly for me. I definitely look forward to reading Kwan’s sequel, China Rich Girlfriend.

This is definitely a good book for YA readers the like a mystery/thriller. The story is about Emma who finds a video of her long lost sister, Sutton, and decides to meet her only to find out that’s she’s dead. Now Emma must take Sutton’s place to stay alive.
It’s a good concept, but girls getting away with being bullies just because they’re popular seemed a little too “Mean Girls” to me! I do plan on reading the series because it’s the only way I’ll get to find out who the killer is, but it won’t be a big priority to read them.

I just didn’t love this book as much as I hoped I would. I listened to the audiobook, and maybe that’s why I didn’t like it as much as my friends who have read it. I did like that it was set in Seattle where I used to live. It made me nostalgic when places I used to go were mentioned. However, I just found the storyline a little implausible and far-fetched.
