a moving, lyrical and devastatingly beautiful ode to syria, family and finding love in the darkest of times.

what was the ending i am screaming. i love every one in this book they are my children why would they do this to me first book in. besides the heartbreak the world was described so beautifully although the magic system still confuses me a little and sometimes they do stuff that is too smart for me. but they all have my heart <3

the lush descriptive writing definitely saved this book for me; so much of the magic system and what was going on kind of confused, especially the flashbacks or the interjected stories. i nearly dnf’d after twenty chapters just because i didn’t feel like anything was going or anything interesting had happened, and the characters felt a bit flat. i’m glad i stuck with it, the world has been drawn beautifully by the author, the characters did flesh out, and i might pick up the sequel.

it was interesting to get to see cardan’s pov and his upbringing, plus i loved the storytelling element. judecardan 4eva

it’s ironic (or maybe ironic isn’t the right word) that words can’t express how beautiful this book was. not just the writing, or the characters, but the amount of love and effort the author put in it is obvious from the first page.

i absolutely love the way austen writes, and it’s sad to see the beautiful potential of the unfinished book ‘the watsons’ included in this collection.
