Oh Stassi… I’m not sure what I was expecting from this. I love Vanderpump Rules and I love her on it. She’s so blunt and hilarious. I mean, she’s basically a b*tch. LOL. Since I love the show so much, I was definitely going to read this. Thankfully, I did not purchase it!
One of my biggest issues with this book is how many times she used “basic bitch” in this book. I get it, that’s what this is about. She doesn’t need to use it 5000 times! Another phrase that was really overdone was “AF”. I really wasn’t sure what she was going for with this book. Was it supposed to be about her? Her life? It was more just a bunch of random things. I mean.. she has a whole section of this book talking about the best hot dogs and ranch dressing.
If you are going into this looking for information about the show and those on the show, you are looking in the wrong direction. There’s really not much about the show. She does talk about her relationships and briefly brings up her friends. But really, there isn’t all that much about her life either.
I really felt like this book was not “Stassi” at all. She’s blunt and controversial and that’s what I wanted to read about. She was definitely not that in this book. In fact, she spends time apologizing for a lot of her past that got her in trouble with sponsors. Hmm… okay.
I’m glad this was a short read because I almost DNF’d this book! This kind of proves that just because you are sorta famous, doesn’t mean you can write a book!

I had really high expectations for this one. I loved The Illuminae Files and this one doesn’t compare. It was just an okay read for me.
I did like the concept. Let me just say, I liked the concept in the beginning and then it got a bit too weird for me at the end. It might be because there wasn’t enough world building for me. There was a bit of mystery but by the time we got to the action, I had it all figured out. I really don’t like when books become predictable! In that aspect, I felt disappointed. It was also a really slow read for me. I felt like the first 2/3’s of the book took forever.
Unlike Illuminae, the character banter is just terrible in this book. I kept finding myself rolling my eyes or just sighing out loud. It made it REALLY hard to connect to any of the characters and get sucked into this book. I think my favorite was Aurora because she just observed and didn’t partake most of the time!
I think they tried to hard to get another Illuminae and I just couldn’t stop comparing? I’m not sure. I did think it was an okay read but I don’t know that I’ll be continuing the series. I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on this one. I just think my expectations were a little high. Don’t hate me

Have you ever heard of Help Helen Smash? Neither had I! Honestly, I haven’t delved too deeply into her past videos yet. I found her when I was on bed rest. She posted a video about getting read for a baby. She had a baby 2 months before me! It was the most hilarious video and it was at the perfect time. I have followed her since and I always watch her videos with my husband now. Her and her husband are hilarious!
I wanted to read her book because I wanted to know more about her. She posted when she hit her yearly sober goal! I was intrigued on how she got where she is. I loved this book. It was a quick read, well mostly. I had to stop a lot because of the baby but I could have gotten through this in one day.
The stories about her past were brutally honest and quite terrifying at times. I was just screaming NOOOO!!! Don’t do it!!! She went really deep and got really vulnerable in this book, at the same time, she was humorous. I really appreciate what she’s accomplished so much more. She really put a spotlight on being an addict and how it’s a disease. She really has to fight every single day and she’s come so far.
I think one of the best parts of this book was when she meets her, now husband, Stephen. Their relationship went through so much but the way they meet is so funny! Who argues about who loves water more?! They do. They are hilarious but also went through some really dark stuff. I admire what they have done.
I will be binge watching a bunch of her things now! I’m so glad I read this book and I felt like I got to know the person behind the camera a bit.

I have to start by saying, I foolishly requested a book from Netgalley, not realizing it was the last book in this series. So, I'm trying to get through the whole series in the next couple months. I thought it was good and I will continue the series but it was a bit of a let down.
I loved the whole bhuta aspect. What's not to love about elemental magic? I wish that Kali learned more about her powers in this book though. I loved what we did learn about the history of this magic. I think it was fascinating and I can't wait to see how it unfolds. I feel like there was definitely some foreshadowing there. I REALLY wish that Kali could have had more time to learn and practice her magic. I feel like we didn't get enough of the magic.
I really liked Kali and her whole idea of sticking up for people and knowing that things are wrong. She constantly tries to do the right thing, regardless of the repercussions. She fights for what she believes in. I do find that she was a bit naive though. I'm hoping that's because she has spent most of her life in a sick-bed. I do wish that she would have gotten to her realizations a lot quicker.
Now, I did enjoy it. I never thought "I can't read this" or "I wish it was over." I enjoyed reading the story but I just didn't find it as immersing. I think that King could have done a lot more with the world building. It was a little bit lacking, in my opinion.
I really didn't care for Deven. He was just so blah as a character and I can't quite pinpoint it. It might be because I really don't like insta-love and this was super instant. I just was so, eh.. about them. I was actually hoping for a love triangle! Someone I could actually root for. haha.
A lot of our characters are not really as developed as I would have liked. I wish that I could have attached to them a lot more. I'm hoping that will happen as I continue the series.
Okay, onto book two!

From the very beginning, I knew I was going to like this book. Mostly, because from the moment we meet, Sloane, I loved her. She’s snarky and doesn’t care what people think of her. She’s honest, blunt, hilarious and cares deeply. I loved her so much.
I think this is another great job by Emma Mills. There’s a lot of tough subjects in here that she writes beautifully. We are dealing with loss, intense friendships, lost love and finding out who you are. I loved all the friendships in this book and it’s the focus point of this plot.
There is a love story, a few actually, but nothing that’s the main focus of the story. I think I really like that about Mills writing. She lets her characters get to know each other and understand each other before falling in love. It’s an adorable love that’s slow growing and fun to watch.
Unlike the previous book I read by her, First & Then, this one captured my attention right away! The funny thing, it kind of lagged for me in the middle. Even though there’s a lot of intense subjects, Sloane’s clever jokes really keep this book light most of the time.
Overall, this was a great read. I loved the friendships, family dynamics, love, and Sloane. I think that she’s also finding out a lot about herself in this book and that was fun to see. There’s a lot more to her facade of being a smartass! If you are looking for a good contemporary read, pick this one up!

This is by far my favorite Emma Mills book yet! I was caught up in the story from the very beginning!
This book is such a great book about friendship, love and finding who you are. I loved Claudia from the minute I met her. She’s snarky and really fun. I as immediately intrigued by her relationship with Iris. Iris, is someone who I loved so much in this book. To see her character grow so much was really wonderful to see. It really made me so happy! She was so closed off but hilarious. She starts off really mean but it was amazing to see her grow into a character that became one of my favorites.
Really… all the characters in this book were amazing. I have love the way that Emma Mills comes to writing friendships. It’s one of the things that I have loved in all the books I have read by her, recently. They are all going through a lot but they come together. The friendships are intense but feel so very real.
This book was so full of fun, humor, and love. At the same time, it is quite emotional but in the best way. If you ever want to pick up a book by Emma Mills, please pick this one up! It’s such a great story that you will fall in love with!

Okay, so I think that I’ve got most of Jenn Bennett’s stories figured out super early in her books. Although, I really enjoyed this story! I mean, even the Goodreads summary gives the spoiler… I didn’t see that beforehand but still.
I loved the fact that Bailey is trying to find an online friend, Alex. She doesn’t really know anything about him except that they have a lot in common. The problem is, she ends up meeting another boy. I won’t go into anymore details because … spoilers. I mean.. just in case you haven’t read the Goodreads blurb. haha.
I really liked Bailey and her relationship with Porter. Their banter is actually quite fun. I just really loved their relationship! It was so sweet and just makes you happy. I usually really do like the hate to love trope anyways. If you don’t, you might not like this relationship!
I also loved a lot of the supporting characters! Grace was pretty much awesome and I do wish we would have gotten to know her a little bit better. I would totally be open to a book about Grace because she was so much fun!

I needed a break from a pretty dense read & this was perfect! I really like her as an actress and enjoyed a lot of her movies. Sometimes memoirs are a hit or miss. I really enjoyed this one though!
She talks about her life and how she got “famous.” She feels so real and still doesn’t quite believe that she’s a “famous” person. It was never boring and I flew through this book. It was really quirkly and I feel like that’s just how she is in person.
I really like how she talked about her anxiety and she was just so honest. She’s done some things and definitely doesn’t think so highly of herself. She also keeps telling you that she isn’t a nice person, even though many people tell her so.
I really loved when she talked about her jobs on her movies. Especially, Twilight, how she was a nobody. It was quite entertaining.
