ARG I LOVE MURDERBOT!!!
I’m so happy we got to meet some new characters as well as old. This was such an enjoyable and lovely novel. I loved the small chapters we got that took place on Preservation. I almost wish that we got a little bit more of those. But this was just a good time as always.
challenging informative medium-paced

A great historical overview of the history of Israel, Zionism and Palestine. I learned a lot while reading this but was very thankful for any background information that I had going into this. This is a very dense read and the author tends to go through historical points quickly which can make keeping up difficult at times.

Reading about Palestinian history from a Palestinian perspective is imperative. Zionism relies on the erasure of Palestine and its people. This makes this read even the more important for Americans like myself to read.

Such a cute read! My first B.K. Borison book and I’m looking forward to more.

I love Aiden. He’s a train wreck but horribly relatable because of it.
informative reflective slow-paced

This was my first time reading a full book written by Coates. Overall it was extremely well done and well written. It is unapologetic and well researched drawing from his own experiences as a black man in the journalism industry and from those he spoke to.

At times I wish he trusted the reader a little more. I think this is an excellent read and can be read by anyone even if they do not possess knowledge of Palestine and the like. That being said, I found some of his reflections to be a bit derivative and as if he was holding my hand.

Still an amazing book and I look forward to reading more of his work in the future.

Sometimes online reviews are gems and someone’s… they’re this trainwreck. Don’t get me wrong some elements were strong (Ogi. That’s it only Ogi) but I couldn’t stand the relationship for 1 million reasons.

Tago is self centered and disrespects Ogi’s personal boundaries MULTIPLE times. Not to mention Tago being in high school and Ogi being in college just… icked me out.

I’m with Kanako on this one. They shouldn’t date. I hope Ogi finds more self confidence later on and better things for himself, but I won’t be reading the series further 💔

I loved this book! Would reccomend to anyone who enjoys the ambiguity of Japanese Literature or Studio Ghibli. I only wish the ending had been given more room.

Also what the hell happened to Ramesh? I feel like that whole plot point was glanced over 😖

I love Murderbot! I always eat these books up once I pick them up.

I love that we got back to Dr Mensa and crew 😭😭. Murderbot is finally exploring the possibilities to be a person and what that means. They’re so relatable. I love being in their head!!

Can’t wait for the next one!

2 stars feels generous…
I really REALLY wanted to like this but the writing felt immature while also pretending to be posh and highly intelligent. The main conflict felt underbaked and had good ideas, but needed to be fleshed out more. The villains made more arguments in the two seconds of screen time that they had than either of the protagonists.

The romance was the worst part. It was forced and honestly toxic. Pleiti (our Watson) has no backbone. Her entire personality revolves around Mossa (Sherlock).
like at the end when she’s in meetings she’s literally only thinking about Mossa?? and don’t get me started on “you don’t have to change because I did.”

Overall there were good ideas in here but it needed more time and needed more eyes on it. I wanted to like the characters but everything they did felt forced and the author gave me no reason to care about them. The world building was uninspired and the elements that were interesting were glanced over in favor of “BUT MOSSA!!”
ALSO THE WHIP LASSO MADE ME WANT TO DIE. It came out of nowhere and made no sense. like… be for real.

The only thing keeping this from 5 stars are the explicit dog deaths. Totally necessary for the book but I struggle with any on screen animal deaths

I will officially read anything by Becky Chambers. Sidra grew so much and I really did love her at the end (which I didn’t expect to). But Pepper has my entire heart. Her chapters tore me open and mended me whole again.

I wanna play Big Bug Crew too.💔

I love Rebecca Ross’ writing style the prose is gorgeous and the characters are extremely real.

I wasn’t as interested in this book as I was with the last one. I found some aspects to be unnecessary and redundant almost
(basically the whole ending with Jack. Like… you’re telling me that couldn’t have been a singular scene with him talking to the spirits as he defeated Bane? okay)Omg not to mention the beginning was a bit of a drag.

I loved Torin and Sidra. They were yet again top tier and my favorites and definitely had the most growth and interest going for them this book (my humble opinion of course).
