This was full of cliché’s and there was a miscommunication-trope. 
I still enjoyed it immensely. 

This was very entertaining. I couldn’t put it down, so I read it in one sitting. 
Kinda predictable, a little too short, but exactly what I wanted from this. 

The story has taken a new direction and I’m not sure if I’m liking it, but I’m still intrigued.

Dit boek bevat twee delen;
Het eerste deel zijn enkele kortverhalen die zich afspelen in en rond de wereld van het Kerkhof der Vergeten Boeken. Allemaal even mysterieus en prachtig geschreven met telkens toch een link naar één of meerdere personages en gebeurtenissen van de originele tetralogie. 

Het tweede deel is een stuk dat hij schreef voor een krant omwille van de herdenking van 9/11. Dit was een ongelooflijk stuk. Zafón slaagt erin om met zijn kunstige manier van schrijven de hel die daar plaats heeft gevonden tot leven te brengen. Ik moest bijna het hele stuk huilen.

I have no idea where this is going and I like it

A Line in the Sand is a really cute, fluffy, not too deep kind of romcom perfect for summer. 

It’s the second book in the Turtle Beach-series, but it’s perfectly readable on its own. It does take place after book 1, so you will get spoiled for the ending of book 1 (but with this kind of romcom the ending is pretty predictable, so that wouldn’t bother me). 

It tells the story of Molly, who plays a mermaid at the Aquarium, and Max, who is the new director of the Aquarium. On his first day as new director, he fires Molly on the spot because the Aquarium has some financial troubles. The whole town/island then decides that Max is the villain. Now he has multiple problems; how is he going to save the Aquarium, get Molly ànd the town to like him. 

Molly also has some problems; how is she going to find another job? How will she tell her parents? And why is the man who fired her so damn hot? 

During the story we see Molly win Max over; she knows everything about the Aquarium and the turtle-hospital and he needs her to save the aquarium. They grow more and more together until their big saving-plan fails…

This was a cute story. There wasn’t much depth to the characters, but I don’t think of that as a bad thing. There was enough depth for me to care about Molly and her little doggo & to not like Max. 

The setting was also very cute. Turtle Beach sounds like the perfect summer getaway and I would love to see the aquarium and the turtles!

There were some funny side characters as well. 

The writing style is really fluent and the story moves at quite a fast pace, which makes it an easy and quick read. 

I also liked that we get a dual POV (both from Molly and Max). Allthough their relationship is an important part of the story, they don’t spend very much time together. Don’t expect any smutty scenes, because the most that happens in this book is some kissing (which was absolutely fine by me). I would have liked an epilogue though maybe with a little timejump. 

Don’t expect greatness from this book, but if you want an entertaining summer read with a lot of dogs, than this is the one for you.

This one felt a bit slower than the first two. 
The plottwist near the end was interesting though!

Piranesi is een heel speciaal, uniek boek en ik vond het absoluut geweldig. 

We volgen Piranesi, die woont in een ontzettend groot huis/kasteel met allerlei kamers met daarin standbeelden. Op de onderste verdieping is een oceaan met getijden, die soms bepaalde kamers overspoelt. Piranesi leeft al zolang in het huis dat hij de getijden doorheeft en hierop kan anticiperen. Het is Piranesi’s missie om het hele huis te verkennen en in kaart te brengen. 

Er is één andere persoon in het huis, die hij “de Ander” noemt. 

Op een bepaald moment vindt Piranesi bewijs dat er nog iemand anders in het huis is (geweest) en dit is het begin van een mysterie. 

Dit boek is zo fantastisch geschreven. Door de vele beschrijvingen lijkt het echt alsof je met Piranesi door het huis loopt en naar de standbeelden kijkt. 

Piranesi zelf is een heel intrigerend personage. Hij komt heel kinderlijk en naïef over en stelt zich totaal geen vragen bij sommige dingen. Zo beschrijft hij dat hij niet meer weet hoelang hij al in het huis is of weet hij zijn naam niet meer, maar dat accepteert hij gewoon. 

Het is dus aan de lezer om de puzzelstukjes die verspreid zitten in het boek samen te voegen, want Piranesi zal het niet zelf doen. 

De schrijfstijl is absoluut prachtig. Ik las het boek in het Nederlands, een vertaling dus, maar wauw. De bewoordingen zijn vaak prachtig gekozen en het blijft toch heel eenvoudig, aangezien Piranesi ook zo is. We lezen nl. vanuit een ik-persoon. 

Het is zeker en vast een heel beschrijvend verhaal, heel personage-gedreven, wat exact mijn type van boek is. Als je dus actie verwacht, is dit niet het boek voor jou. 

Daartegenover; als je graag raadsels oplost en beschrijvingen leest van o.a. standbeelden, kamers en vogels, dit in een prachtige schrijfstijl, is dit exact het boek voor jou.
